The Military Council

  • According to the junta media, (64.508) million US$ was needed to keep up with that of previous fiscal year in terms of exporting fishery products of Myanmar. Therefore, efforts were being made for the operation of the sector without fail.
  • The military junta announced that 3 people, who had been supporting PDFs in Kayar State, and 10 PDF members were arrested.
  • According to the junta newspaper, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission attended the 2nd meeting of the working group on the Forum of Human Rights Organizations in ASEAN, together with delegations from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and East Timor.
  • In Yangon Region, a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination was provided to prisoners and detainees of Insein Prison at the prison theatre.
  • In the press conference by the military junta on Friday afternoon, Zaw Min Tun, leader of the military propaganda, said that they would not take on responsibilities of the State for long.
  • According to the junta communication team, U Phyo Min Thein, who had been in detention, was in a normal condition of health and there was no such case of a low oxygen level.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • U Tin Tun Naing, Union Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG, said that the junta lottery came to an end due to the revolution spirit of the public.
  • Ministry of Human Rights-NUG announced that an advisory team was established with human rights activists.

Revolution Activities

  • In Nantote village on the Shan-Kayar border, members of PNO/PNA had been stationing in the houses in the village. Therefore, local residents were worried.
  • In Mingala Taung Nyunt Township of Yangon Region, the junta armed forces opened fire wildly in the ward on 122 street at about 8:00 pm Thursday. According to local residents, U Thein Min Tun was hit with a bullet and died. Reportedly, his dead body was taken away by the junta army.
  • On Friday morning, Yangon rally conducted a movement, calling for cooperation of all people in the fight for the public’s freedom. Reportedly, at least one protester was arrested.
  • Little Hero DAGON PDF made an announcement warning the junta informers in North and South Dagon Myothit townships to stop their activities.
  • Amidst tight security measures by the junta armed forces, youth and students in Dawei expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Longlone Township, a rally of women, youth and basic education students marched for official recognition to the NUG as well as for the end of the military dictatorship on Friday morning, with signs welcoming people’s soldiers and police.
  • In Tantsi Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces raided Kabaunggya village on Thursday night. According to local residents, they also shot mortars.
  • On Thursday night, Tamu youth led a protest against the military dictatorship, “Only NUG is our government”.
  • In Khin-U Township, Pyusawti leader in Magyitone village, son of junta-appointed administrator, and other Pyusawti members beat former administrator U Kan Myint, accusing him of supporting PDFs. They then handed him to the police.
  • On Friday morning, a rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship. They also marched up to the memorial of Ko Chan Myae Kyaw who lost his life due to the junta armed forces at the cross-road of Pathein-Monywa 5 months ago.
  • Katha PDF announced that timber production and transportation in Katha and related areas were prohibited. If discovered, action would be taken in accordance with the interim law on forestry.
  • A rally of Monywa-Amyint roadside villages expressed their support for the NUG and protested against the military dictatorship. They also conducted a salute-event in memory of 7 Monywa PDF members who lost their lives one month ago.
  • On Friday morning, a combined rally of Phayagyi, Maha Aungmye and Mandala University marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • On Friday afternoon, Mandalay Monks’ Union marched against the military dictatorship as their 200-day protest. They also said prayers for safety of the public.
  • Chanting anti-junta slogans, a rally led by Mandalay Monks’ Union expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • On Friday, a rally of Mandalay Engineers marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Magwe Region, Myaing Township Basic Education Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from the northern zone, made an anti-junta movement at about 5:00 am Friday.
  • In Yezagyo Township, a combined force of Yezagyo PDF and MG6 Guerrilla announced that they had cleared an informer to the military junta in Zidaw village on Friday morning.
  • In Magwe Township, farmers expressed their desire for the emergence of federal democracy and for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • In Kayar (Karenni) State, a building in Chike Ward of Loikaw was destroyed by explosion at about 8:00 pm Thursday. An office of the military-owned Mytel company had been opened there.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, Phya-Pone PDF warned Ba Lay Oo, allegedly informer to the junta, on Thursday night via a Facebook post with the image of two guns.
  • According to local residents of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the military junta had been trying to tighten security in Pathein, Myaungmya, Kyonepyaw and Bogalay with the excuse of COVID-19.
  • In Tantalan Township of Chin State, an explosion happened in the attempt to remove an unexploded mortar on Friday afternoon. In the incident, a person died and 7 others were seriously injured.
  • On Friday afternoon, Kun Bwa Hto Thwe, NLD member and former chair of township city development committee who had been arrested by the military junta, passed away with COVID-19 infection.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kyaikdone Township of Kayin State, KNLA Regiment (6) took possession of the camp at Kyaik village on Thursday. According to local sources, the military junta instructed Kayin BGF to get it back.
  • In Pha-Pun (Mutra) District, the junta armed forces conducted operations in Kawpu village group and Bwade village group. Consequently, there were 11 clashes with KNLA on Wednesday and Thursday. Reportedly, 15 junta soldiers died and 11 others were injured.
  • In Shan North, there was a fighting between the junta army and MNDAA at the entrance to Monekoe on Thursday.

Summary on 27th August

  • In Shan North, Kachin and Kayin states, there were frequent battles between EAOs and the junta armed forces. In the press conference by the military junta on Friday, the junta communication leader Zaw Min Tun said that there were just small battles between KIA and the army. Despite their actions of strengthening power and battles, they said that they had opened paths to peace. In the press conference, they also uttered words to cause division among EAOs. On the other hand, Kayin EAOs said that they would fight against the army if they invaded the area. So, there might be ongoing battles.
  • The military junta had been conducting oppression targeting anti-junta youth, NLD and NUG. The news came out that there were sexual harassments of the youth who were involved in the revolution. They obviously insulted those young people via social media and the junta media as well as before diplomats and journalists.
  • Public protests in Mandalay gained greater momentum. In Sagaing, Yangon, Magwe, Chin and Kayar, there were more activities of urban guerrilla and armed revolution.
