The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In the opening speech at a public conference, the Acting President of the NUG said that a new constitution would emerge via the conference by the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).
  • At the public conference, Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that the military junta had been trying to bring life again to the terrible system ignoring justice, peace, democracy and human rights and to restrengthen the political, economic and administrative areas under the great influence of the army.
  • In the opening speech at the public conference, Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that in the Spring Revolution, there was politically important coordination, including the Federal Charter, among revolution forces of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and at public’s conference, key discussions would be made for the success of the revolution, including the adoption of the charter.
  • According to the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. The NUG announced that 51 members of the junta armed forces had died and 16 others had been injured on Wednesday.

Revolution Activities

  • According to local residents, the military junta threatened shops at all markets in Yangon Region not to close and not to take part in the Silent Strike on 1st February.
  • At about 3:00 pm Thursday, five men and two women in the uniforms of the electricity department told shops in Mayangone Township not to close on 1st February.
  • In Tamway Township, junta soldiers came to Visara Clinic and Pharmacy on Thursday morning and sealed them off, saying that the owner wrote about closing the shop on social media.
  • According to Burmese Youth Network, they, in cooperation with Urban Guerrilla (UG), carried out an operation with a remote mine and a banner - ‘Blood for bloody debt’ in Thamai of Yangon on Thursday.
  • On Thursday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • Starting from Thursday morning, the military junta threatened Mandalay people in various ways not to take part in the Silent Strike on 1st February.
  • On Wednesday, a combination of the junta armed forces and non-CDM railway staff forced CDM staff and squatters in Pyin Oo Lwin to leave their housing and threatened that legal action would be taken against those who fail to move away within seven days with the charge of Section (505).
  • Kyaukse District Defence Force announced on Wednesday that they had conducted a bomb attack at a police station in town.
  • In the north of Ayadaw Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces raided Aungchantha village on Tuesday and stole valuable things such as the jewelry, money and mobile phones of the public.
  • As a 354-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Kani Township, DRPA announced that a convoy of military vessels was attacked on Chindwin River and over ten junta soldiers died.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta armed forces stationing in Aungchantha village inspected local people on Tuesday for no apparent reason. Reportedly, they beat a 23-year old man named Thaw Zin Tun until he could no longer walk and arrested him.
  • In memory of the first crackdown by the junta army ten months ago, a combined rally of Salingyi Township and Yinmabin Township conducted a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Myinmu Township and Tigyaint Township, military convoys were attacked with mines. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died.
  • In Loikaw Township of Karenni State, the junta army ruthlessly shot dead six people and threw their dead bodies into a toilet hole. Reportedly, they were found on Thursday morning, picked up and buried.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.
  • In Kangyidaunk of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta staff collected the signatures of shopkeepers confirming that they would surely open their shops on 1st February.
  • In Pindaya Township of Shan South, some staff members of education department, who had turned from CDM staff into non-CDM ones, did not get their salaries for six months.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Loikaw of Karenni State, there was a fighting between the junta armed forces and Dimawso Township PDF on Thursday morning. Reportedly, a junta soldier died of a gunshot by a sniper and many others were injured.
  • In Chin State, local CDF conducted a guerrilla attack on a military convoy on Matupi-Mindat road section. Reportedly, eight junta soldiers died and no less than 13 others were injured.
  • In Indaw Township of Upper Sagaing, a combined force of KIA and PDF attacked a military convoy carrying aviation fuel and weapons at three different locations at about 4:00 am Thursday.

The Military Council

  • The junta trade department issued another list of some imported products which would need an import license.
  • On Thursday, the military junta released U Hantha Myint, a CEC member of NLD who had been detained since the military coup on 1st February.
  • Due to report of the junta lobbyists, some shopkeepers and people were arrested for writing on social media that they would take part in Silent Strike Day on 1st February, and their property was sealed off in some states and regions.
  • According to the junta media, there was a discussion between the junta leader and Cambodian Prime Minister for the special envoy of the UN Secretary General to come to Myanmar.
  • According to the junta news, U Than Zaw, Permanent Secretary of the junta electricity and energy ministry and other responsible personnel joined a special meeting (2022) of ASEAN high-ranking officers from the power sector and meeting of ASEAN Central Administration Council, hosted by Brunei via video conferencing, on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Through the propaganda newspaper, the military junta said that junta soldiers had been sharing food items with local people, which they had robbed from Bado village of Loikaw.

Summary on 27 January

  • In an online meeting the previous day, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen urged the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing to implement the ASEAN 5-point consensus. After that, the military junta released U Hantha Myint, a CEC member of NLD. People said that Spring Revolution could not be broken apart just by releasing leaders.
  • In the villages raided by the junta armed forces, local people were killed or ill-treated. In the areas with a great loss for the military junta, they conducted more violence.
  • Via public’s conference by National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), efforts were being made for a new constitution. They had been trying step by step for a federal democratic nation.
