The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a statement, the NUG called on the public to unite in the fight against the military dictatorship, following the success of national unity in the fight against fascist Japanese 77 years ago.
  • Reportedly, there was a meeting of the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw, Ministry of Women, Youth and Children and the Ministry of Labor. They then presented their policies, activities and future plans for the revolution.
  • In their statement on anti-Fascist Day, the NUG stated that the revolution had been successful to some extent due to the common goal and unity of the public. They also called for moving towards victory with strong desires and unwavering cooperation.
  • The NUG announced that as soon as the Central Commission on Investigating Military Crimes finish their investigation, necessary action will be taken against offenders, and that they would not accept those who do as they please without obeying their legal obligations.
  • The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) released a statement welcoming the decision of the U.S government that activities of the junta army against Rohingya people have been genocide and crimes against humanity.

Revolution Activities

  • In New York in the U.S, the 4th fund-raising activity for Myanmar’s Spring Revolution was organized at St. James Episcopal Church in Queens county on Sunday. Reportedly, they collected over 34,000 USD.
  • On behalf of the European Union, high-ranking representatives from 21 countries (including the U.S) called for a stop to the sale or transfer of weapons to Myanmar and technical assistance.
  • The U.S Embassy stated that they were still commemorating those who had lost their lives in the revolution, including the case in which at least 100 people had been killed on the junta Armed Forces Day in 2021, and those who had to run away from home due to violence.
  • In Karen State, two trucks were set on fire near Tawnaw Waterfall on Myawaddy-Kawkarait road section on Sunday morning. Reportedly, there was heavy fighting.
  • In Kyain Seikgyi Township, the Basic Education Students’ Union and local people from Winyaw Area marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday, holding anti-Fascist signs.
  • In honor of the clowns from ‘Ha Nga Gaung’, Bradford City A.F.C., a team of Premier League, sent football shirts signed by their footballers.
  • Somewhere in Kyaikto Township in Mon State, students’ unions and local people protested against the military dictatorship at 1:00 pm on Sunday, hanging a banner against the junta army on anti-Fascist day.
  • In Meittila in Mandalay Region, there was a protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday, in memory of two local residents who lost lives last year.
  • In Wandwin Township, youth led a protest against the military dictatorship, in memory of Dr. Phyo Thant Wai and Ko Min Min Soe who died in the Spring Revolution on 27 March 2021.
  • In a village in Kani Township, local people, protected by GZ PDF, marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In a village on the Monywa-Amyintm road there was an anti-junta movement on Sunday, together with signs against fascists.
  • On the 382nd day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army entered Ywathit Village on 24 March, firing mortars. Reportedly, they burned five people to death. They also ill-treated 80 residents, including women and children, and took away people’s belongings from their houses.
  • In Ayadaw Township, local people led by the Basic Education Students’ Union marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday, holding anti-junta banners.
  • In North Okkalapa Township in Yangon Region, youth from the SCUG led a march against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Shwepyitha Township, a combined rally of students’ unions conducted an anti-junta movement on Sunday, hanging an effigy of a fascist soldier.
  • In Sanchaung Township, the junta armed forces blocked off Baho Road to clear a hand-speaker playing recordings of anti-junta slogans, because they thought that it was a bomb.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, a combined rally of the students’ union and youths from Octopus carried out a protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Sanchaung Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Bargara Road on Anti-Fascist Day (Armed Forces Day), chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Insein Township, youth conducted an anti-junta movement on Sunday morning, placing a banner- ‘We need justice’ at the township hall.
  • In North Dagon Township, Generation Z Defence Force (GZDF) conducted a bomb explosion in front of the stadium on Union Road at 8:30 pm Saturday.
  • In Bahan Township, there were two explosions near Yadanar Park at about 1:00 pm Sunday.
  • On anti-Fascist day, EC members of NLD-LA Malaysia and democracy activists for Myanmar in Malaysia protested against the military dictatorship. Reportedly, they also read out an open letter at the Myanmar Embassy.
  • In South Korea, there was a protest against the Myanmar junta army, led by Min Aung Hlaing, and Russian President Putin conducting awar of invasion in Ukraine.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, youth and students marched against the fascist army on Sunday.
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, a rally of 500 local people showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG. They also expressed their sorrow for the death of Ko Thant Zaw aged 19, who had lost his life in a protest last year.
  • In Yesagyo Township in Magwe Region, junta soldiers got drunk and wildly fired mortars three times at about 11:00 pm Saturday. Reportedly, those mortar rounds fell on a house, killing a child aged six and his father. Reportedly, his pregnant mother and the other child aged three were injured.
  • In Longlone Township, there was an anti-junta movement on Revolution Day.
  • In Tanintharyi Township and Yebyu Township, a junta informer and an EC member of the USDP were shot dead.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • U Phe Than, the former MP of Myebone Township, said that the United League of Arakan (ULA) should accept the NUG’s invitation to a meeting and have a discussion with them.
  • In Hpapun District under the control of KNU Brigade (5), the junta army conducted air strikes on two villages on Sunday morning. According to Mutraw Newsletter, people’s houses were damaged.
  • On Sunday morning, a combined force of the KNLA conducted a guerrilla attack on junta armed forces leaving Phalu for Wawlay. There was heavy fighting between them.
  • In the Myawaddy-Wawlay Area, three officers from the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) were dismissed.
  • In Myawaddy Township, the junta army was attacked with mines on Sunday morning. Reportedly, around 20 junta soldiers might have died.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that the quarantine period for those entering the country through international and border gates had been reduced from 7 days to 5 days.
  • The military junta stated that visitors to Bagan must bring their certificates on completing COVID-19 vaccination.
  • The junta Ministry of Investment and International Economic Relations announced that 1,200 companies had been removed from the companies register due to their failure to submit annual reports in the first three months of 2022.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the military junta awarded prestigious titles to artists who had not participated in anti-junta movements and deceased artists on the junta Armed Forces Day.
  • According to the junta media, former military officers and their wives attended the military show on the 77th Armed Forces Day. Reportedly, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing met with them where they were staying.
  • On the 77th junta Armed Forces Day, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they would not meet with terrorist organisations and their supporters. He also said that they would fight against them until the restoration of peace and security in the country.

Summary on 28 March

  • On junta Armed Forces Day, Min Aung Hlaing said that he would not discuss with the NUG and related organizations against the military dictatorship. He also said that they would fight against them until the end. In fact, he said in public that the junta army would continue to commit violence and war crimes.
  • In Yangon, there were many protests and acts of guerrilla revolution all across the city.
  • In Sagaing, there was still great momentum behind public protests and armed revolution.
  • In Karen State, the KNU got the upper hand in battles. The junta army suffered great losses and conducted airstrikes. There might be ongoing fighting in the area. In Chin and Karenni states, there was also fighting against the junta armed forces.
