Spring Revolution Daily News for 28 October 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting (9/2023) between Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and District People’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region. 
  • Mandalay PDF released a statement welcoming the attacks of the Northern Alliance on the junta armed forces in Northern Shan State. They added that they would join the fight as the Taungthaman Military Operation. 
  • Operation 1027 got started and raised People’s Defensive War. On such a day of leveling up the revolution, the Secretary of Ministry of Defence-NUG posted on social media that the waves of PDF would come one after another. 

Revolution Activities 

  • According to Bamar People's Liberation Army (BPLA), they have been joining Operation 1027 by the Three Northern Alliance. 
  • On Friday, U Min Ko Naing called for the only focus being on the end game on the 1000th day of the Spring Revolution. 
  • On Friday, the Foreign Ministry of China stated that they had heard about military conflicts in Myanmar. They also called on the stakeholders to ceasefire as much as possible and stop battles. 
  • In Namkham Township of Northern Shan State, two children lost their lives and another one was injured due to mortar fire on Friday. 
  • On Friday, all the flights had to be suspended for the whole day at Lashio Airport in Northern Shan State. 
  • In Dibeyin Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been invading local villages. Consequently, about 20,000 people have had to run away. 
  • In Monywa, there was a surprise attack on the junta soldiers on their way out for shopping. Reportedly, two of them died and two others were injured. 
  • In Kyauk Myaung Sub-Township of Shwebo Township, there were exchanges of bomb attacks via drone between the PDFs and Pyusawti Militia. 
  • In Mayangone Township of Yangon Region, Western District PDF attacked Myawaddy Bank owned by the junta army and Aungthabye Police Station at about 7:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, there were casualties. 
  • According to Salween Press on Friday, 6 junta soldiers defected to Karen National Union and joined the public. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • On Friday morning, a combined force of Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) attacked so-called 13 Mile Camp of the junta army near Namkham. Reportedly, they managed to take control of it. 
  • Karen National Liberation Army and the PDF set fire to the junta’s police information office and military security office in Kawkarait. 
  • The three EAOs of the Northern Alliance announced that they got started with Operation 1027 against the junta army. They also launched a new page to release information about the operation. 
  • On Friday morning, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) took full control of Chinshwehaw, a town on China-Myanmar border. 

The Military Council 

  • In the junta’s meeting on Thursday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing accused the group led by the United States of causing instability in various sectors of Myanmar. 
  • The junta leader falsely claimed that anti-junta countries had been applying Double Standards. 
  • In Meiktila of Mandalay Region, the junta army removed 40 houses, accusing them of unlawfully occupying the land. 
  • The MNDAA took control of Chinshwehaw in Kokang Area. Afterwards, the junta army conducted air strikes. 
  • The junta propaganda leader General Zaw Min Tun told media that there had been battles near Laukkaing, Chinshwehaw, Lashio and Theinni. He claimed that despite the loss of some police stations and militia camps, they were able to control the town of Chinshwehaw. 

Summary on 28 October 

  • There have been battles all over Northern Shan State. The revolution forces announced that they had started the offensive war. The NUG and the PDF claimed that the waves would come one after another. Subsequently, there might be heavier fighting. 
  • The military junta responded that they had not lost any junta army camps, and they still could control Chinshwehaw. Despite such lies, the flag of the MNDAA was seen to be hoisted in the town of Chinshwehaw.
