Yangon Region

  • In Hlaingthaya Township, a rally of Federation of General Workers Myanmar (FGWM) marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, chanting “Insein is a prison and so is the whole country. We have only us”.

Mandalay Region

  • On Monday night, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public and made a protest against the military dictatorship.
  • Amidst arrests of protesters in Mandalay, a rally led by youths was held against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • In Myingyan, Ko Kaung Myat Thu and his wife, owners of Bombay Chity restaurant on Phaya road in Ward (16), were shot dead by a group of unknown people between Shweyatha and Denko petro shop at about 11:00 am Tuesday.
  • Myataung rally expressed their objection to the military dictatorship every day without fail. On Tuesday noon, the junta armed forces in plain clothes opened fire and made a violent crackdown on that rally while they were protesting at the eastern area of Maha Myatmuni Buddha Image. Reportedly, no less than two people died, no less than three people were injured by gunshots and many others were arrested.
  • A rally of Mandalay Monks’ Union managed to avoid the junta armed forces who came to conduct a crackdown on them. They then marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Tuesday evening.
  • Regarding two charges against Dr Zaw Myint Maung, Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, his lawyer U Kyaw said on Tuesday that they would appeal to the district court.
  • On Tuesday, a rally of the Monks’ Union protested against the military dictatorship, with words of encouragement for the heroes from Myataung rally who were killed, injured and arrested by the junta armed forces.

Sagaing Region

  • On Monday, the youth-led and anti-junta movement, disinfecting Monywa Amyint road-side villages for COVID-19 prevention.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of Seikkun expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • On Tuesday, a rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched up to the memorial of Ko Chan Myae Kyaw, who was killed by the junta army in the Spring Revolution 4 months ago. They showed their respect for him and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • To mark their 170-day protest, Kalay townspeople marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.

Magwe Region

  • In Pakkoku, the houses in Ward (15) beside Sinpaukla stream drifted into the stream due to heavy rain. On Tuesday, the youth-led “From the People to the People” campaign, distributing food and clothes to flood victims.

Taninthayi Region

  • In the eastern area of Dawei, the youth-led a boat strike against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Longlone Township, a rally of Nyinmaw village went around with motorbikes on Tuesday afternoon and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • In Longlone Township, students and public marched in Lower Yebyu village for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Tuesday afternoon.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, a rally of Longlone Township marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, residents made a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship, holding flaming torches and banging pots and pans.
  • Kachin State
  • At about 9:00 am Tuesday, three bombs exploded near Nantsiaung checkpoint. Reportedly, a car of Jainphaw Shwemye Express was damaged. There were no injuries in the incident.
  • In Pha-Kant, a rally of Lonekhine group residents made a protest against the military dictatorship.

Chin State

  • In Paletwa Township, there have been 224 COVID-19 confirmed cases so far. Therefore, it has the most COVID patients among 9 townships in the state. The previous day, a military officer from the junta army tested COVID-19 positive.

Kayin State

  • In Pa-An District, KNU Regiment (1) attacked the junta army based in Wuitgyi village. Reportedly, Aye Thwe, the second leader of the junta people’s army, died in the fighting.
  • Bago Region
  • In Bago, there were two explosions at the administration office in Kyaukgyisu Ward at about 9:00 am Tuesday. Reportedly, three junta soldiers were injured in the incident.
  • Two NLD MPs from Bago were infected with COVID-19 in Kyaikzagaw Prison. According to their affiliates, they have been receiving medical treatment at Kali hospital in Bago.

Nay Pyi Taw

  • The military junta announced one-sidedly that the 2020 General Election Result, which was voted by the public officially, recognized by the international community and won by NLD at an overwhelming margin, was abolished.
  • According to Nay Pyi Taw Students’ Union, the junta armed forces beat and arrested Ko Kyaw Bo Bo Kant, a leader of their union and a second-year student of Yamethin Technology University, at a monastery where he had been staying in Pyinmana on Tuesday.

Summary on 28th July

  • In Yangon, there were almost no public protests. The number of fatalities was on the rise due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There was still the problem of oxygen scarcity.
  • In Mandalay, the junta armed forces in plain clothes made a violent crackdown on a rally. Consequently, two people died in the incident. Despite such violence, there were still various protests with great momentum.
  • In Sagaing Region and Taninthayi Region, anti-junta movements still had great momentum. As for other states and regions, they had almost no public protests. In Shan North, Kayin, Mon, Taninthayi and Thandwe of Rakhine, residents need assistance due to the disaster of floods.
