Spring Revolution Daily News for 29 April 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • At 10:00 am Thursday, the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration conducted a meeting (17/2023). There, Union Prime Minister and Chair of the Committee expressed thanks to each and every one who has been risking their life for the revolution. 
  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and District People’s Administration. 
  • According to Ministry of Health-NUG, they have been providing medical care to the IDP camps in Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region. 
  • According to Ministry of Defence-NUG, there was a battle in Pauk Township and Saw Township of Magwe Region at 12:15 pm on 24 April. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Friday. 
  • On Friday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched for the end of the military dictatorship. 
  • Taze Township General Strike marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta signs. 
  • In Shwebo Township, the S&C provided rice and curry to over 2,000 displaced people. 
  • In the south of Butalin Township, there was a battle near Nyaungbinkan Village at about 7:00 am Friday. Reportedly, no less than 10 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Kani Township, there was an attack on the junta army camp in Alegyun Village at about 5:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In Khin-U Township, more than 500 houses from 3 local villages were burnt down due to the junta armed forces and the PDF lost 6 members in the clashes. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, Me Hmaung Guerrillas called on the public to contribute as they have been in need of 300 lakh MMK to buy guns. 
  • In Tamu Township, a junta soldier pretended to defect to local PDF. Reportedly, he took away four guns and returned to the junta army. 
  • In Kantbalu Township, 4 displaced people were bitten by snakes and two of them lost their lives from 1 to 15 April. 
  • In Patheingyi Township of Mandalay Region, San Yu Mg aged 39, the son of the junta administrator in Latkaung Village, was shot dead at his house on Thursday. 
  • In Natoegyi Township, Khine Min Tun, a junta sergeant from a local police station, was shot dead at about 7:00 pm Wednesday. 
  • In Natmauk Township of Magwe Region, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy of 30 oil trucks at 7:40 am Friday. Reportedly, one of the vehicles was damaged. 
  • In Yesagyo, there were exchanges of gunfire between the junta army and local PDF in town on Wednesday. Reportedly, a junta soldier was injured. 
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, Gyankhine Township General Strike protested against the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta signs. 
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, local PDF would conduct a raffle campaign for the fund of the revolution. 
  • In Dawei Township, there was an attack on Phayame inspection camp at 6:00 am on 23 April. Reportedly, military officer Kyaw Thu Swe was shot dead by a sniper. 
  • In Waw Township of Bago Region, a combined force of local PDFs attacked Nyaungkashay Police Station at 7:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, a junta policeman died. 
  • In Phyuu Township, Kyaw San Linn, the junta officer of the electricity department, was shot dead in Kanyutgwin on Thursday. 
  • In Latbadan, two supporters of the NUG and PDF were each sentenced to 10 years and 3 years in prison on Thursday. 
  • In the west of Dimawso in Karenni State, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing at about 11:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 3 local people were hit and one of them died on the spot. 
  • In Thanglang of Chin State, the junta army carried out a bombing via fighter jet on Talanlo Village at 3:30 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 2 people lost lives. 
  • On their two-year anniversary on Thursday, Students’ Armed Force stated that they would serve for the unity of students as a historical responsibility. 
  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, up to 3,444 people have lost their lives due to the junta armed forces until Thursday. 
  • In 7 big cities of Japan, the Spring Film Festival will be held from 6 to 28 May. 
  • In Jakarta of Indonesia, there was a rally in front of Myanmar Embassy, calling on the military junta to stop killing the civilians. 
  • On Thursday, Norway Central Bank announced that they had excluded Korean and Indian oil companies for their continuous work with Myanmar’s junta army. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • According to a focal person of the Cobra Column, it was assumed that the variety bombs, which the junta army used in their aerial attacks in Kayin State, were from Thailand. 
  • The junta army has been fighting hard to get back Mekhartar Camp controlled by the KNLA Brigade (5). 
  • In local battles of Pekone, Mobye and Pinlong on the border of Shan South and Karenni, no less than 50 junta soldiers died within 3 days, 2 others were caught alive and a large number of weapons were confiscated. 
  • On Friday, the KNDF released a video of the junta army abusing the local people of Legyar Village in Pinlong Township of Shan South as human shields. 
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, there was a bomb attack via drone on Kinpunchaung Police Station on Thursday. Reportedly, the building was burnt down. 
  • In Chin State, there was an attack on the junta army stationed in Kanpetlet General Administration Department. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and two others were seriously injured. 
  • On Wednesday, a combination of Chin forces attacked a junta army camp between Hakha and Thanglang. According to the spokesperson of Chin National Army, junta soldiers left the camp and their weapons were confiscated. 
  • In Duplaya District under Karen National Union Brigade (6), 51 junta soldiers died in local battles in March. 

The Military Council 

  • In an exclusive interview, the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun claimed that according to the current situation, over 60% of the country has been safe. 
  • On Thursday, the junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed their support for the GIS proposed by the President of China and released by the Foreign Ministry of China. 
  • According to a focal person from the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, there would soon be a national level tender for electricity. 
  • According to the junta Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, there might be 4 low pressure points, two of which might grow stronger as storms in the Bay of Bangel. 
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, the junta army raided Mazutyan Village at about 9:30 am Thursday. Reportedly, they took away a tical of gold and 40 lakh MMK. 
  • The military lobbyists have been threatening the artists via Telegram that there will be legal action against those who fail to join the junta Academy Award Ceremony in early May. 
  • According to the junta Myanmar Embassy in Thailand, Myanmar migrant workers are to take their OWIC by 19 May at the latest. 
  • Starting on 23 May, basic education schools will accept the enrollment for KG to Grade (11) for 2023-24 academic year. 
  • On Thursday, the junta Pyin Oo Lwin District Administration stated that there would be effective action against the application of land irrelevant to existing laws, by-laws and instructions. 
  • In Yangon, a large number of the junta armed forces destroyed road-side shops in Bayintnaung Trade Station on Friday afternoon. 
  • On Thursday, the junta Urban and Housing Development Department stated that they would change the prices of the apartments as they cost a lot in maintenance after using them as COVID-19 centres.

  • In an interview with foreign media, the military junta claimed that 60% of the country was safe. In reality, they can influence just a lower percentage of the country. 
  • With the most cruel ways, the military junta has been trying to crack down on the revolution by using deadly weapons on the public.
