Yangon Region

  • According to the junta media on Tuesday, 10 cremation chambers were being set up simultaneously at the cemeteries in Yangon so that over 3000 bodies could be cremated on a daily basis.
  • In Thuwunna, a combined rally of students’ union and various townships marched against the military dictatorship on Supaung Pyinmamyein road on Wednesday.
  • According to the witnesses, the sign “No oxygen supply” was placed at some oxygen plants in Yangon. So, those who came there for oxygen refills had to carry back their empty cylinders.
  • On Wednesday, the youth from Tamwe Township led an anti-junta movement on Myenigone Mahamyein overhead bridge, hanging a banner - “The junta army must come to an end in our generation”.
  • On the side-walk in front of Central Bank, a member of junta police reportedly collapsed with breathing difficulties.
  • In South Dagon Myothit Township, U Saw Oo, 100-household leader in Ward (24), was shot by two unknown gunmen on a motorbike near Shwe Yinma (2) street at about 10:00 am Wednesday as he was on his way to get oxygen. Reportedly, he was injured in the incident.

Mandalay Region

  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public and made a night strike against the military dictatorship.
  • On Wednesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public and made a protest against the military dictatorship.
  • In salute to Ma Thu Thu Zin who lost her life in the violent crackdown by the junta army in the eastern area of Maha Myatmuni Buddha Image the previous day, Myataung rally continued their march against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • Ma Thu Thu Zin, a 25-year old woman, was killed by the junta armed forces. Her dead body was not given back to her family. Instead, it was being kept in the detainment camp inside Mandalay Palace compound.
  • Amidst violent crackdowns and arrests by the junta armed forces in Mandalay, a rally led by Monks’ Union marched up to 91 road on Wednesday as their 170-day protest against the military dictatorship.

Sagaing Region

  • In Shwebo Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship in a village on Wednesday morning.
  • In the fighting between the junta armed forces and PDF in Yinmabin Township, an RPG shell became stuck in a tree. Mg Min Min Oo, a local resident of Chaungsone village, brought it home and died when it exploded.
  • As usual, Kalay General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • In Butalin Township, there was an anti-junta movement on Wednesday.
  • According to local residents of Kani Township, the junta armed forces conducted a mass killing of no less than 11 IDPs and buried them in the ground in the west of Zeebindwin village.
  • In Salingyi Township, a rally of Latbadaung Taung General Strike marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Wednesday evening.

Magwe Region 

  • In the south of Myaing Township, the youth led an anti-junta movement on Tuesday night, “We will overcome the pandemic. We will also put an end to the junta army”.
  • At about 7:00 am Wednesday, a convoy of military trucks was attacked by Yaw PDF with mines on Gantgaw-Htilin road section. According to the YDF, 20 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from the northern zone, made a protest against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning, chanting COVID-19 prevention and anti-junta slogans.
  • In Natmauk Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship on Wednesday afternoon.

Taninthayi Region

  • In Longlone Township, there was a night strike against the military dictatorship with burning torches in Lower Kyaukwut village on Tuesday.
  • On Wednesday evening, a rally of Longlone Township expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship, “Let’s march together, breaking the walls of prison”.
  • Despite the raids into houses by the junta armed forces in Longlone Township, basic education students led an anti-junta movement on Wednesday afternoon.
  • In Longlone Township, the junta armed forces had been raiding Lower Yebyu village since 8:30 am Wednesday. Reportedly, three local residents were arrested.
  • In memory of four heroes from Dawei who were shot dead by the junta armed forces in the Spring Revolution 5 months ago, the public and the students marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Wednesday evening.

Kachin State

  • In Pha-Kant, local residents of Lonekhine Group marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday evening.

Rakhine State

  • Arakan National Party (ANP) announced on Tuesday that abolishing the result of the 2020 General Election would make the political crisis worse.

Nay Pyi Taw

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they kept commitments to the promotion of the health sector. He said it was vital for the patients in hospitals to have good nutrition and to that end he had had armed forces stationed nearby to donate eggs, bananas and other nutritious food to hospitals.

Summary on 28th July

  • In Yangon, there were almost no protests. On the other hand, the number of fatalities increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the military junta kept control of oxygen refills, there were difficulties for those who need oxygen.
  • In Mandalay, two people had died in the violent crackdown by the junta armed forces in plain clothes. Their dead bodies were not given back. Amidst such violence, public protests still had great momentum.
  • In Sagaing and Taninthayi regions, there were still powerful protests against the military dictatorship. As for other states and regions, they had almost no protests. In Shan North, Kayin, Mon, Taninthayi and Thandwe of Rakhine, local residents are in need of assistance due to floods.
