Spring Revolution Daily News for 29 July 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • On Friday, the very first coordination meeting was conducted among the Commission on Cooperation between the Union Government and the Federal Units, Karenni State Interim Administration Council and Karenni State Consultative Council. 
  • The Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Defence-NUG claimed that it was crystal clear the military junta was being faced with a great loss in the revolution and they had to rely too much on their prisoner Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. 
  • On 22 and 23 July, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG went to Dallas and Houston in the United States. He then met with Rohingya people and other ethnic ones. 
  • According to Ministry of Defence-NUG, the CDM doctors and healthcare professionals provided medical treatment to the displaced people in Winyay Township under the control of the Karen National Union Brigade (6) on Thursday. 
  • At 10:00 am Thursday, the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration conducted a meeting (30/2023). 
  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting (25/2023) between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and District People’s Administration. 
  • According to the PDF Headquarters under Ministry of Defence-NUG, a combined force of PDFs attacked the junta gate in Milaungchaung Village of Pulaw Township in Taninthayi Region. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Indaw Township of Sagaing Region, two displaced people lost their lives because of mines in Inbin Village on 17 July. 
  • On Friday morning, the junta army raided the office of Butalin Township Students’ Union. Reportedly, they killed the Chair, the Vice-Chair and the Secretary of the Union. 
  • In Myinmu Township, an alliance of PDFs attacked the junta army invading the area on Thursday. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers died. 
  • On Friday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin protested against the military dictatorship. 
  • According to Yay Guerrilla Force, one of their camps, along with their communication office, was raided in the southern part of Yay Township in Mon State. Reportedly, they lost weapons worth about 2000 lakh MMK. 
  • On Wednesday evening, the military junta arrested Zaw Win Maung, a Tik Tok celebrate in Mandalay, for making a funny video containing the name of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing. 
  • Defend Myanmar Democracy and Progressive Voice welcomed the right step of Japan to exclude Myanmar from the ASEAN and the G7 meetings of judiciary affairs. 
  • In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army raided Sezingone Village. They reportedly arrested over 80 people including children. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, a junta police officer was arrested on Matupi-Hakha Road. 
  • In Loikaw Township of Karenni State, the junta army fired mortars. Consequently, a civilian lost his life and 8 others including a pregnant woman was injured. 
  • In Moegok Township, a combined force of Kachin Independence Army and KPDF conducted 4 attacks on the junta army within 12 days. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Karenni State, Karenni Army raided and took control of a junta army camp near Pharsaung. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In Lashio Township of Shan State, the junta army carried out an air strike on a camp of Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) near I-Nai Village. Reportedly, 5 TNLA members were injured. 

The Military Council 

  • Despite the instability of Myanmar’s economy along with the constant depreciation of the Myanmar Kyat, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that the country’s economy was expected to grow 4% in the 2023-24 fiscal year. 
  • The second junta leader Soe Win stated that the confiscation of illegal goods was worth over 127 billion MMK within one and a half years. 
  • According to sources from Naypyidaw, the military junta transferred Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from prison to a governmental building. 
  • Reportedly, the Special Envoy of China on Asian Affairs has been in Naypyidaw. 
  • According to the news on Myanmar Platform, there might be a meeting between the Special Envoy of China and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. 
  • According to the news, the military junta conducted a meeting between T Khun Myat- Speaker of the Union Assembly and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on Wednesday. 
  • The military junta announced that they would make inspections in markets and warehouses to control illegal trade. 

Summary on 29 July 

  • With a great loss and hardships in all sectors, the military junta has been trying to continue their power grip and escape from the crisis by abusing State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in unjust detention. 
  • In battles, there have been a large number of casualties among junta soldiers. Likewise, some of them have run away and many others have given up arms. On the other hand, some junta soldiers have been arrested by the military junta for lack of desire to fight in battles.
