The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG sent a birthday wish to Major General N'Ban La, Chair of Kachin Independence Organization-KIO, Chief Military Officer of Kachin Independence Army-KIA and Chair of KIC, on his 75 th birthday.
  • Ministry of Education-NUG will conduct an 8-week training on Action Research for those interested in educational research.
  • On Saturday, Kawlin Township Education Board announced that their education programme got started with over 300 CDM teachers and more than 10,000 students in Kawlin Township of Sagaing Region.

Revolution Activities

  • At the hearing of senators on 25 May, the leader of Republican Senators said that it was necessary for the US government led by President Biden to report to Congress how they would take action related to Myanmar’s affairs.
  • On Friday, there was an exclusive meeting at the United Nations Security Council with regard to political, economic and humanitarian hardships in Myanmar after the military coup.
  • On Friday, a combined force of education organizations released a statement with thanks to CDM students and parents who did not get involved in the junta slavery education.
  • In Wetlet of Sagaing Region, a local PDF stated that they would not take responsibility for the life of Ko Win Soe who had been paying to the junta Minkun Padu Police Station.
  • As a 443-day protest, a powerful rally of villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On Saturday, a rally of protesters, protected by PDF members, marched in front of the sign -‘Monywa, Capital of Northwest Region’ - chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, a large number of junta armed forces attacked PDF members both on the ground and through air strikes at Myittha Dam. After two days of such attacks, the situation is unclear.
  • In Yesagyo Township, a car with junta soldiers was attacked with mines near Legyi Bridge between Zeegone Village and Hsinchaung Village. Reportedly, 2 soldiers might have died and many others were injured.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • At a sign post at the entrance to Mandalay, protesters conducted an anti-junta movement on Saturday, hanging a banner against the military dictatorship.
  • According to MDY Revolution, some members of a Mandalay Urban Guerrilla named Yatanabon Phoenix Guerrilla Force-YPGF were arrested by the junta armed forces on 25 and 26 May.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • On Friday, Actor Ye Tight was sentenced to 10 years in prison together with hard labour under the charge of holding drugs under Section 16 (C)/ 23. According to his lawyer, they would make pleas in accordance with his legal rights.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • On Saturday, there was an online meeting between the Karen National Union-KNU and CEC members of the National League for Democracy-NLD.
  • Starting from 26 May, the junta Border Guard Forces, which had left the areas under KNU Brigade (1) and (5), entered Laykaykaw Area under the control of KNU Brigade (6).
  • On Saturday, Karenni People’s Embrace revealed the confessions by two CDM soldiers.
  • In Hommalin Township of Sagaing Region, Shanni National Army-SNA conducted an attack at Shwepyiaye General Administration Department on Friday afternoon. Reportedly, a policeman died and so did a civilian.

The Military Council

  • On Saturday, 5.42 million vaccine syringes, donated by Chinese government, arrived in Yangon.
  • In Pha-Ang Township, the junta army shot dead a driver with many gunshots for no apparent reason.
  • In Eainme Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta township administration council led cleaning activities at the affiliated high school in Takaw Village.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Education, 3,230,999 students enrolled in basic education schools throughout the country within two days for the 2022-23 academic year.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they had been doing work to protect the religious buildings on Hantha Thiri Land and the peaceful residence of the monks there.
  • According to the junta propaganda team, 16 private schools were to close in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
  • With the invitation of the junta leader, Ms. Noeleen Heyzer, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Myanmar, will come to the country.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that staff from Insein Railway Engine Factory were to make an effort to produce electric railway engines, from small to large, due to the planned target production for such engines all over the country.

Summary on 28 May

  • Since the military coup, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing has been daydreaming about electric trains. He aired his views about it every now and then. Without proper knowledge about basic infrastructure, he has been talking just what he wants.
  • In Sagaing and Magwe regions, a large number of the junta armed forces have been conducting attacks on the ground and via the air. Due to internet and mobile telecommunication blackouts, it is still unknown about the details of the current situation there.
  • In Laykaykaw under KNU Brigade (6), the junta Border Guard Forces entered the area and thus, there might soon be heavy battles there.
