Yangon Region

  • At about midnight Sunday, there was a bomb explosion at the administration office of Ward (1) in Mayangone Township. Reportedly, three people were injured in the incident, including administrator U Nyan Hlaing.
  • In Kamayut Township, a package, assumed to be a bomb, was found near BRB bus stop and Thusaittayone monastery on Baho road. Consequently, the road was blocked and investigations were conducted.
  • South Dagon youth made a protest against the military dictatorship.
  • On Sunday morning, two Mytel cell towers were blown up in Hlaingthaya Township, a tower in Ward (10) and another one in Shwelinban Ward (23).
  • In North Dagon Township, the junta armed forces confiscated all the milk from cattle farms.
  • On Saturday, Hlaingthaya Township Basic Education Students’ Union donated 20000 Kyats to each household raising white and yellow flags in their township.
  • On Sunday morning, Thaketa youth conducted a “From the People to the People” campaign in a ward of Dagon Seikkam Township, distributing rice and other food items.
  • On Sunday, various staff members from Shwepyitha Township made an indoor strike against the military dictatorship, calling for a boycott against military products.
  • Reportedly, the junta armed forces blocked off some roads in Yangon, starting from 3:00 pm on Sunday.

Mandalay Region

  • On Saturday, a young protester of Myataung rally was shot dead by the junta armed forces. In the night strike of Pyi/Gun rally with strong determination, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw said that the military junta would have to suffer the same very soon.
  • On Saturday night, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools made a protest against the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday night, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public and protested against the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, holding signs- “Tomorrow marks the 6th month of the military coup. Aren’t you fully satisfied with the destruction of the nation?”.
  • In the violence against Myataung protesters the previous day, 12 young people were arrested and another one lost his life. No matter what, Myataung rally took to the streets again on Sunday.
  • Despite violent crackdowns and arrests by the junta armed forces in Mandalay, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.
  • In Mandalay, the junta armed forces raided the houses and arrested protesters on Saturday. Reportedly, no less than 10 people were arrested. Among them, a 20-year old man named Ko Sai Ye Yint died of a gunshot wound.
  • On Sunday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • To mark the 6th month of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing destroying the country, a rally of monks’ union marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Sunday.

Sagaing Region

  • On Sunday, there was a farming strike against the military dictatorship in Paygone village.
  • In Tantsi Township, the youth-led a farming protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kalay Township, residents marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • Across-the-Border Lightning-&-Thunder announced that they would take revenge on Taungphyu villagers anywhere, except for the IDPs, for setting a trap to arrest PDF members in Taungphyu village in Minkin Township. They would also accept the punishment of NUG for such responses satisfactorily and bravely.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship in a village.

Magwe Region

  • According to Yaw PDF, at least 20 junta soldiers died in the attack with mines on Gantgaw-Htilin road-section on 28th July.
  • At about 9:30 am Sunday, a military helicopter from Htilin landed in the station of junta army (Ka-La-Ya 50) in Gantgaw.

Taninthayi Region

  • On Sunday afternoon, Dawei General Strike, in cooperation with a rally of youth/students, expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Dawei, the youth-led an anti-junta movement on Saturday night.

Bago Region

  • According to residents, the junta armed forces came to the so-called train station market on 3 street in Mazin Ward of Bago and made prohibitions.

Mon State

  • In Mudone Township, U Aman, administrator of Hnibadaw village, was shot by two unknown gunmen on a motorbike at about 5:30 pm Saturday while he was on his way home from the village administration office.

Kachin State

  • In Pha-Kant Township, the students and the public from Lonekhine village marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Pha-Kant Township, a rally comprising various ethnic people expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Sunday.

Chin State

  • On Friday, there was a battle between the junta armed forces and a combined force of CDF Matupi- CAN at mile-post (73) on Matupi-Mindat road. 10 junta military officers died and they were buried randomly. Together with those photos, CDF made it known to the public.
  • Reportedly, the junta army had been planning to make air strikes against CDF- Mindat.
  • CDF announced that there would be severe battles as long as the junta armed forces continued their invasion.
  • In San village camp where many Mindat IDPs have been staying, COVID-19 related medicines and food items are needed urgently.

Nay Pyi Taw

  • According to the official announcement of the military junta, junta leader Min Aung Hlaing started to take up the position of Prime Minister of the interim government on Sunday.
  • In his speech to mark the 6th month of the coup on Sunday, junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that he would seize power until August 2023.
  • According to the military junta, the chairs of the military council in Taninthayi, Sagaing and Ayeyarwady regions were permitted to resign from their positions.

Summary on 2nd August

  • Even amidst oppressions in Yangon, there were still anti-junta movements. The junta army had been confiscating people’s property in the city.
  • Due to violent crackdowns on Mandalay protests by the junta armed forces, there were arrests and deaths. Despite such incidents, various rallies marched against the military dictatorship in the region.
  • In Chin State, the junta army lost many military officers in the fighting. Consequently, there might be severe military operations. In Magwe and Sagaing regions bordering Chin State, the junta armed forces had been strengthening their airstrikes.
  • As for other states and regions, they had very few protests.
  • To mark the 6th month of the military coup, the junta leader gave a speech, announcing himself as Prime Minister of the interim government, which was changed from military council, for two more years. The public was criticizing that the junta continued their unfair rule by changing the name as a ritual.
