The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Defence sent a congratulatory statement to the one-year anniversary of the Karenni Nationalities Defense Forces (KNDF).
  • There was a meeting between the Interim Chin National Consultative Council and the NUG Ministry of Health to provide support for healthcare matters in Chin State.
  • According to the NUG, the National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), which was signed in 2015, is an agreement between the union government and ethnic armed organisations. They also announced that a terrorist organisation like the military junta under pretense of union government did not have the right to hold discussions with ethnic signatories of the agreement.

Revolutionary Activities

  • Ma Zun Su Mon Oo, a staff member of Myanmar Embassy in Phnom Penh in Cambodia, joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).
  • In Sagaing Region, a car leaving Yinmabin was inspected on Thursday morning and items used by the junta police force were confiscated.
  • On Thursday, the Kalay General Strike marched against the junta’s slavery education.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined demonstration by three villages, in cooperation with the Yangon Ta-Ka-Tha youth and strike committees from the western bank of the Chindwin River, marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Salingyi Township, Monywa University Students’ Union and the Letpadaung General Strike marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta signs.
  • According to local PDFs, a combined force led by Captain Dragon fought against the junta armed forces setting fire to villages along Chindwin River bank. Reportedly, there were many casualties among the junta soldiers.
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, students and the public protested against the junta’s slavery and bloody education on Thursday. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Naungcho Township in Shan State, there was an explosion near Myoma Market on Wednesday night. Reportedly, a man was injured in the incident.
  • In Ywangan Township in Shan South, the Ywangan PDF announced on Wednesday night that local gambling events that paid bribes to the junta army were to be called off.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, local revolutionary forces conducted an event in memory of Colonel Ba Htoo, who lost his life 77 years ago, in Laythunkan Village on Thursday.
  • In Dawei, a parcel supposed to be containing durians exploded at a house in Eainshaybyin Ward at about 10:30 am on Wednesday. Reportedly, a woman and a child were injured.
  • In Boatpyin Township, there was an argument among junta soldiers in the locally-based Ka-Ma-Ya (585) army unit on the night of 29 May. Reportedly, three of them died from gunfire.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship and the junta slavery education on Thursday morning.
  • On Thursday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Bago in Bago Region, the junta armed forces shot dead police officer Thiha on Wednesday evening, giving the excuse that he had not stopped a car that he should have.
  • In Seikgyi Kanaungdo Township in Yangon Region, the Twantay Rangers conducted a grenade attack on the house of the administrator in Panbinchaung Ward.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • According to the Karen National Union- KNU, there were 41 battles between the junta army and Border Guard Forces and the KNLA/KNDO in the last month.
  • According to the Karenni Democratic Front (KDF), they managed to help Victoria, a second sergeant from the junta police force, to desert as she had asked for help to join them.
  • There was a fund raising project for members of the Karenni-based revolutionary forces.
  • According to the Mon National Education Committee, a Mon National College would be opened by their department under the New Mon State Party.

The Military Council

  • The committee for edible oil imports and distribution under the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce fixed the price of a viss (3.6 pounds or 1.65kg) to be 5,725 MMK for the Yangon market. However, 8,000 MMK has to be paid for a viss at retail markets.
  • In a press conference on Wednesday, the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that they could prove there was fuel oil in storage tanks. However, the shops in Nay Pyi Taw have run out of fuel oil.
  • The junta propaganda leader said that Thaybawboe Camp, taken over and now controlled by a combined force of the KNLA, was not an essential camp, and there were more important camps in terms of military operations.
  • The junta police chief of Myanmar buttered up Bangladeshi personnel to getf information related to the activities of terrorist organisations on the border between the two countries.
  • Reportedly, the junta peace team and a delegation from the United Wa State Party (UWSP) signed a peace agreement.
  • In the meeting between the UWSP and the the junta peace teams in Nay Pyi Taw, the military junta agreed on a policy to establish a Wa State.
  • Regarding a bomb attack at a pro-military rally in Tachileik in Shan east, the District Court sentenced a young Wa ethnic man to death by hanging.
  • After a clash between the junta army and the Arakan Army (AA) on 26 May, a curfew was put in place in Chin State’s Paletwa Township and Sami.

Summary on 3 June

  • The junta propaganda leader told lies about fuel oil at the junta press conference. In reality, fuel prices have gone up and shops have faced shortages. Under such lies and the rule by force of successive military dictators, it is only the public who has had to suffer.
  • In upcountry regions, the junta armed forces have been very oppressive. They have been destroying buildings, even religious ones. For the time being, local people are badly in need of food and medicines.
