Spring Revolution Daily News for 30 April 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • On Friday, the Ministry of Health-NUG announced that the military junta has been conducting more air attacks on public hospitals and clinics in April. They also claimed that the responses of the international community are just slow, turning a blind eye to the situation. 
  • According to the PDF Headquarters under Ministry of Defence-NUG, an alliance of the PDFs carried out attacks with rockets at the junta armed forces in Kyauktu Area of Saw Township in Magwe Region. 
  • Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG announced on Saturday that they had arrested four junta informants for the case in Pazigyi Village of Kantbalu Township in Sagaing Region and charged them with Section (54) under the anti-terrorism law. 
  • Ministry of Defence-NUG announced the list of local battles between the PDFs and the junta armed forces in Magwe Region on 24 April. 
  • Ministry of Defence-NUG called for contribution to the revolution by secretly sending information about the military junta in Yangon Region to Rangoon Scout Network. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Sagaing Region, a rally of Yinmabin North conducted a dawn strike against the military dictatorship on Saturday. 
  • As a 681-day protest, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe expressed their objection to the military dictatorship. 
  • On Saturday, Taze Township General Strike marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Myinmu Township, the junta army fired shells on a wedding reception in Nyaungyin Village at about 10:30 am Saturday. Consequently, local people had to run away. 
  • In Htigyaint Township, the junta armed forces raided the eastern village and the western village of Hsin Phyu Seik on 26 April. Reportedly, they shot dead two local residents and burnt more than 40 houses. 
  • In Butalin Township, local PDFs attacked the junta army on Friday, killing 4 junta soldiers. 
  • In Phaung Byin Township, there was an attack on the camp of Pyusawti Militia in Sechaung Village at about 5:30 am Friday. Reportedly, 7 Pyusawti members died. 
  • In Myaung Township, there were mine attacks on junta troops from Kyaukyit Station at about 7:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Bahan Township of Yangon Region, former military officer Ye Min Than was shot dead in Kyaikkasan Ward at about 10:00 am Saturday. 
  • In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army near Magyi Bonegone Village on Friday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and another one was injured. 
  • In Myaing Township, a junta policeman was shot dead at about 9:00 am Friday. 
  • In Natmauk Township, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy of oil trucks at about 9:00 am Friday. Reportedly, one of the vehicles was damaged. 
  • In Phyuu Township of Bago Region, Mawsi, a junta informant, was shot dead in Yepyar Village. 
  • In Oatpho Township, there was an attack on the house of a local Pyusawti member who had raped and killed Ma May Zun Moe, a CDM nurse. 
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, Kyankhin Township General Strike led an anti-junta protest on Saturday. 
  • In Ngatheinchaung of Yekyi Township, a criminal affairs journalist was shot dead on Thursday morning. 
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, an old man was shot dead in Thayet Hnakwa Village on Saturday morning. 
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, there was a surprise attack on the junta inspection gate on entrance to town at about 7:30 am Saturday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Thanglang Township of Chin State, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on Talanlo Village on Thursday. Consequently, 2 people lost lives and 9 others got injured. 
  • In the western area of Dimawso Township in Karenni State, the junta army conducted airstrikes on the IDP camps without any battle on Saturday morning. 
  • On Saturday, Burmese Students’ Union released a statement condemning the junta’s capital punishment to Ko Kaung Set Paing, a member of the Union. 
  • At about 7:00 pm Sunday, the winners of Cobra Lucky Draw will be announced. 
  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), the military junta has sealed off 751 public’s buildings from the coup on 1 February 2021 to 31 March 2023. 
  • The Special Envoy of the United Nations called on the Japanese Government to put pressure on the military junta to resolve the terrible crisis in Myanmar. 
  • At Cannes World Film Festival in France and the International Short Film Festival 2023 in Korea, the movies ‘Starting Point’ and ‘The Road’ by anti-junta artists won awards. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In Kawlin Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army arrested and ruthlessly killed KIA officer Zaw Sai and 10 PDF members operating near Paybinchaung Village. 
  • In Phapun District under Karen National Union Brigade (5), the junta army has been trying hard to get back Mekata Camp near Thanlwin River. 
  • In Falam Township of Chin State, Local People’s Police Force and the CNDF destroyed 5 barrels of alcohol beverage in the area under the control of the CNO/CNDF. 

The Military Council 

  • For joint power production, there was a meeting between the junta leader and the delegation led by Vice-Chair of Russia-Myanmar Friendship and Cooperation Association in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. 
  • For the stability on China-Myanmar border including combating drug and human trafficking, there was a meeting between the second junta leader Soe Win and China’s Ambassador to Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. 
  • On Friday, the military junta released a statement claiming that regarding the trip of Mr. Ban Ki-moon, what was contained in the statement by The Elders was contrary to what was really discussed. 
  • On Friday, the junta Yangon Mayor stated that they would carry out activities for charging stations of electric vehicles at the hotels and shopping centers in the city. 
  • According to the junta Yangon Municipal Department, they have been supplying water in the city by using power generators and solar equipment so that there cannot be water shortage due to power outage. 
  • The junta Yangon Regional Gold Enterprise Association called for no illegal trade or overcharges. 
  • According to a deputy director of the junta vehicle registration department, around 10,000 electric vehicles would be allowed Yangon licenses per year depending on Yangon Regional Government. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health at 8:00 pm Friday, 77 new cases of COVID-19 were found. 
  • According to the junta trade promotion department, a project will be carried out for the export of the products made from coconut shells in the current fiscal year. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Indonesia will buy a large amount of rice from Myanmar in the current fiscal year. 
  • After the attack on Myawaddy Trade Zone in Kayin State, there have been more security measures and the junta armed forces have been demanding money from every car. 
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, the junta army shot heavy artillery towards Mekane Area all night long on Friday. 

Summary on 29 April 

  • Regarding the case of Pazigyi Village in which over 170 people lost lives, the junta informants were arrested and those responsible for the attack including Min Aung Hlaing were charged under anti-terrorism law. It is necessary to take serious action against them. 
  • The military junta has conducted more attacks on healthcare facilities, non-military targets. They have been openly breaking local and international laws. The international community needs to take action to prevent violence.
