Spring Revolution Daily News for 30 October 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • The Union Prime Minister of the NUG called for negotiations with ethnic revolution forces with diverse views for the highest collective effort and harmony to fight against the military junta committing war crimes all over the country, including their air strike in A Nang Pa of Hpakant. 
  • According to KyarIn Seikgyi Township Public Administration on Saturday, 5 junta soldiers defected to them. 
  • At 9:00 am Friday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Extended Public Administration Teams. 
  • Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) expressed special thanks to the public for participating in the ‘lights-off’ strike. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Sagaing Region, Kalay General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday, chanting anti-junta slogans. 
  • In Sagaing Township, Myaing Township and Yesagyo Township, the junta armed forces set fire to local villages without any battle on Saturday morning. Consequently, local people have had to run away. 
  • In Katha Township, military officer Moe Thu led a meeting with war veterans. At that time, there was a bomb attack via drone. So, the meeting was called off and the participants ran away. 
  • As a 597-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Saturday morning. 
  • In Shwebo District, local PDFs conducted a mine attack on the junta army on their way back from invading the Hanlin ancient Pyu city on the evening of 24 October. Reportedly, no less than 10 junta soldiers died and many others were injured. 
  • In a village on the western bank of Chindwin River, local people, including the elderly and women, actively took part in the ‘lights-off’ strike against the military dictatorship in memory of the A Nang Pa people in Hpakant. 
  • Somewhere in Sagaing Region, a local family hosted a meal to 96 Soldiers – PDF and donated 3 sets of jade for the revolution. 
  • In Salingyi Township, there was an attack via mortars on the local police station, leaving 3 junta members dead. 
  • Even amidst various hardships in Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe continued their 537-day protest against the military dictatorship on Friday. 
  • In the west of Yesagyo Township in Magwe Region, the junta armed forces set fire to Thanpya Chaung Village and Saithay Village at about 6:00 am Saturday. 
  • In Mizoram State of India, a local youth organization reportedly called on their government to accommodate displaced people from Myanmar at relief camps. 
  • Despite the gunfire of the junta armed forces in Mandalay on Friday night, local residents conducted a lights-off strike all over the city. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In Kawkarait Township of Duplaya District under the control of Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (6), a combined force of KNLA Battalion (18) attacked the junta Kyaikdoneye Camp. Reportedly, a junta member died and weapons were confiscated. 
  • A CEC member of the KNU informed the public that it was no longer possible to proceed with the peace process with the military junta. On Friday, the KNU officially released a video about it. 
  • On Asia Road in Kayin State, there was a shooting incident targeting junta soldiers who were demanding money from people on the road. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 4 weapons were confiscated. 
  • In Mindat of Chin State, 88 non-CDM staff under the military junta were blacklisted. 
  • In the headquarters of Kachin Independence Organization-KIO, Maji Zau Ing, Deputy Chief Military Officer of the KIA, passed away of old age. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta Central Bank of Myanmar announced that they would give an extra 30 MMK per dollar for the remittance of Myanmar workers abroad starting from 1 November. 
  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that to retain existing companies at Thilawa Special Economic Zone and invite new investments, brochures must be shared in the Chinese and Russian languages. 

Summary on 29 October 

  • After Myanmar was on the financial blacklist, the military junta was worried that existing foreign businesses would leave the country. They just seem to rely on Chinese and Russian businesses. 
  • In Kayin State, there have been constant battles between the junta armed forces and KNLA. With a great loss, some junta soldiers gave up arms and some others joined the CDM. 
  • In the upcountry, the junta armed forces have been carrying out air strikes targeting civilians. They have also been burning people’s houses on a daily basis.
