Yangon Region

  • Yangon Special Clearance Forces announced their pledge that they would go hand in hand with PDF comrades and other forces, and fight till the end.
  • On 2nd August, Myanmar National Defence Force (MNDF) was established with a combination of urban guerrilla forces from the cities and towns all across the country.
  • The military junta instructed armed forces to pay special attention to those with keypad mobile phones in their investigation as many PDF members had come back after completing the warfare training.
  • On Monday night, 15 residents of Sanchaung Township had been arrested as they banged pots and pans. Among them, 11 people were released on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, the remaining ones were still detained with the excuse of having affiliations with weapon cases.

Mandalay Region

  • On Monday night, Mandalay Monks Union recited Parittas for the public as usual and protested against the military watchdog.
  • On Tuesday, a rally of a variety of forces marched for driving away from the military watchdog.
  • To mark their 176-day protest on Tuesday afternoon, a rally led by Mandalay Monks’ Union expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Madaya Township, residents made a protest against the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday evening, a rally of Mandala University Students marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.

Sagaing Region

  • On Monday, young villagers of Monywa-Amyint roadside community made a night strike against the military watchdog.
  • In Salingyi Township, the youth-led a protest against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, a rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched in memory of Poet Kay Za Win who lost his life 5 months ago. They then expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • In Kani and Minkin townships, the junta armed forces have been conducting mass killings of residents. Reportedly, internet shutdowns have been set in those areas.
  • In Monywa, the youth conducted the “From the People to the People” campaign on Tuesday morning, distributing medicines, rice and vegetables near Peace monastery.
  • Despite crackdowns on protests and arrests of protesters, Kalay General Strike marched up to the main road on Tuesday morning and expressed their desire for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Khin-U Township, a man, 40, named Pho Pyar, junta informer in affiliations with Pyusawti members, and his son Chit Oo were shot dead at their house in Ywathan village at about 11:00 pm Monday. Reportedly, his wife Ma Khin Moe Myint was injured by a gunshot.

Magwe Region

  • In the south of Pauk Township, the junta armed forces and Pyusawti members raided Wunchone village and destroyed over 50 houses.
  • In Myaing Township, the youth-led and anti-junta movement on Tuesday, “Let’s drive away from the military watchdog”.
  • Myaing PDF requested the townspeople to call Chaungsone street in Ward (1) as Ko Pho Htay street in honour of Myaing PDF leader U Aung Kyaw Htay or Ko Pho Htay who had lived there and sacrificed his life for democracy in the country.

Taninthayi Region

  • In Longlone Township, anti-junta youth in a village marched in the rain for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Tuesday, chanting “Let’s drive away from the military watchdog”.
  • In the eastern area of Dawei District, young residents made a protest against the junta watchdog on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday, Myeik youth-led an anti-junta movement, “Let’s drive away the military watchdog”.
  • In Longlone Township, young people in Lower Yebyu village conducted a strike against the military watchdog on Tuesday afternoon.
  • On Tuesday evening, Dawei General Strike, in cooperation with a rally of youth/students expressed their desire for driving away from the military watchdog.

Kachin State

  • According to residents of Winemaw Township, there was fighting near Madaint village, with the continuous firing of mortars since Monday midnight.
  • On 31st July, there was a battle between KIA and the junta armed forces at CDYan village on the exit of Nammiti. Reportedly, the military junta lost 4 soldiers.
  • At about 2:00 pm Tuesday, a combined rally of Myitgyina General Strike Youth and Students’ Union made an anti-junta movement in Bogyoke Park of Myitgyina.

Kayah State

  • Karenni Army (KA) and NDF made a joint announcement on Monday that they would conduct severe attacks at the junta armed forces who had been ill-treating the public in various ways.
  • In Phekone, two bombs exploded and two junta policemen died. After that, the junta armed forces had been opening fire wildly in the streets.
  • In Nan-Phe, the junta armed forces had been firing with the excuse of clearance operation. Consequently, residents had to run away. Reportedly, junta soldiers beat an old man aged 70 with their guns and took away his pension money and mobile phone.
  • In Dimawso, the junta armed forces had been strengthening their power near 6 mile camp. Consequently, residents were worried that there might be a battle in the area.

Mon State

  • On Tuesday, Mawlamyein youth made an indoor strike against the military watchdog.

Kayin State

  • According to the announcement of KNU, there were 133 battles between KNLA and the junta armed forces in the area of KNU Regiment (5) in July. Reportedly, 65 junta soldiers died and more than 100 others were injured.

Summary on 4th August

  • In Yangon, the junta armed forces had been looking for young protesters and revolutionists in respective townships. Consequently, there were some cases of arrest.
  • In Mandalay, there were arrests and deaths due to violent crackdowns on protests by the junta armed forces. No matter what, campaigns for driving away the military watchdog gained momentum.
  • In Sagaing Region, public protests had great momentum and so did revolution against the military junta. There were frequent activities of clearing junta informers. On the other hand, the junta armed forces had been conducting 4 types of shutdowns in the area. Assumingly, residents might be faced with more hardships.
  • In Kayar and Kachin states, there were battles again. Consequently, the number of IDPs might increase with a need for food and medicines.
  • As for other states and regions, they had very few protests. The public had been struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic.
