The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG announced that they would collect text and audio evidence, and take legal action against the military junta and non-CDM staff violating staff rights and international rights contained in Article (16) of International Convention on Economic, Social and Culture, signed by Myanmar on the 6th October 2017.
  • The committee of the NUG on celebrating the 75th Union Day disseminated interesting facts about Union Day.
  • The NUG announced that despite various kinds of public’s protest, including burning oneself, the military junta ignored them and continued their violent activities for power. In a year of the military coup, 1510 people lost lives with mass murders of 184 civilians including 16 children.
  • The NUG expressed their sorrow for the sacrifices and loss of the public. They also vowed that they would try their best to put an end to the military dictatorship, which destroys the lives of the public.
  • Regarding the proposal of Norwegian Prime Minister for the NUG to be on the list of Nobel Peace Prize, U Lwin Ko Latt, Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, remarked that it was because of the democratic activities of the NUG.

Revolution Activities

  • In Kachin State, the junta army conducted an attack with a fighter jet on Swampiya village of Putao. In the incident, 5 people, including 2 children, were injured. Reportedly, the whole village had to run away.
  • In Kani Township of Sagaing Region, two people, who had been arrested by the junta army four days ago, were killed. Reportedly, 3 others were still missing.
  • Operation Spitfire announced the list of pilots and 54 officers from the junta air force, who had been conducting air strikes throughout the country.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta army raided Maletha village from 31st January to 2nd February. Junta soldiers ill-treated local people in the compound of the village monastery. Moreover, they conducted sexual violence against women. A villager was also reportedly missing.
  • In Sagaing Township, the junta army arrested and killed four villagers at about 12:30 pm Thursday.
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta armed forces arrived at 1:00 am on 29th January and stationed in the village. Reportedly, they killed 6 local people by burning them alive.
  • As a 362-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin townships marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, local people marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In the east of Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Aye marched against the military dictatorship on Friday morning as their 291-day protest.
  • In Kyauk Myaung, Black Wolf PDF conducted a bomb attack using a drone on the junta soldiers stationed at the camp of Yadana Theinga Bridge.
  • According to merchants and travelers, the military junta have been opening inspection camps all over the country with an excuse for security and they have been collecting money.
  • In Saw of Magwe Region, there was fighting between the junta army and local PDF on Friday morning. Reportedly, some office buildings and a restaurant owned by a USDP member were set on fire.
  • In Yangon Region, local PDFs conducted attacks on the South Dagon municipal office, Hlaingthaya military convoy, Khayan inspection booth and the Mingaladone air force.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, Mingala Taung Nyunt Township General Strike Committee hung an anti-junta poster to boost the momentum of the revolution.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, The Guys Of Rangoon Molotov warned liquor shops to stop selling junta alcohol and beer by 28th February at the latest.
  • In Mandalay, youth expressed their desire against the military dictatorship, hanging an anti-junta poster in a crowded place on Theitpan Road on Friday morning.
  • In Kyaukse Township, a supporting military truck was attacked with mines between Than village and Han Myintmo at about 9:00 am Friday.
  • In Taninthayi Township, U Aung Thet Oo, a CDM engineer, was taken by the junta army for interrogation and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison under the charge of Section (50-J) of the anti-terrorist law.
  • In Pulaw Township, there was a fighting against the junta army around Sake village under the control of KNU on Thursday morning. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and 8 others were injured.
  • In Myeik, local PDF attacked the junta army on patrol, killing two junta soldiers and leaving one other seriously injured.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Namkam of Shan North, TNLA entered the town market. Consequently, the market people worried that there would be a battle against the junta army and they closed their shops.
  • In Maungdaw Township of Rakhine State, there was a fighting between the junta army and ARSA at about 8:00 am on Friday.
  • In Phakant Township of Kachin State, there was a battle between the junta army and a combined force of KIA+PDF starting from 7:00 am Friday.
  • In Thatone Township under the control of the KNU Regiment (1), the junta army was attacked with mines by the KNLA and PDF on Thursday morning. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died and 3 others were injured.
  • In Phalan Township of Chin State, CNO announced that 81 junta soldiers had died and over 60 others had been injured during battles in January.

The Military Council

  • The junta ministry of foreign affairs called on the international community, including the UN, to condemn the activities of the CRPH, NUG and PDF, accusing them of conducting terrorist acts by using civilian buildings for military purposes.
  • Nyunt Phay, the junta minister of education, instructed schools not to accept any political movement.
  • The military junta announced that they had conducted another lawsuit on Thursday against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi with the charge of bribery.
  • On a trip to Kayah State, Soe Htut, the junta minister of home affairs, said that offices and police stations were to prepare for the fighting of the enemy.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that taking advantage of their mercy, the NUG had been conducting violence without any political reason.
  • The military junta announced their objection to some statements by the international community, including some UN organizations and responsible personnel.
  • The military junta with oppression on media people announced that they would organize a competition for news and articles in order to fight false news.

Summary on 4 February

  • With a great loss in ground battles, the junta leader said that there were violent activities without any political reason. In reality, it is known all over the country that it was the junta army conducting terrorist acts. As he said that they would carry out more violent attacks, it was necessary for the areas with battles against the junta armed forces to take great caution.
  • Actually, the junta armed forces, not PDFs, are stationed in religious buildings, people’s houses and schools. However, they reported the opposite to the international community.
