The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Ministry of Labour and a member of Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG stated that they had been carrying out activities in accordance with the one-year strategy in 2023 and it was necessary to be unanimous. 
  • In an interview with the BBC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG claimed that the military junta could not control the areas on ground at all and they did not have any legitimacy to conduct the election. She added that they did not get the public’s support from a political perspective to do so. 
  • At 9:00 am Friday, there was a meeting (5/2023) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and People’s Administrative Teams from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region. 
  • In Hommalin Township of Sagaing Region, there was a battle near the town of Shwe Pyi Aye at about 3:45 pm Friday. According to Ministry of Defence-NUG, an alliance of PDFs managed to shoot down a helicopter of the junta army. 

Revolution Activities 

  • According to the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers agreed that the ongoing crisis of Myanmar would be resolved only via a national-level meeting, which is inclusive of all stakeholders. 
  • In Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region, an alliance of PDFs took control of the junta army camp in Htisaung Village. Reportedly, 15 junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated along with other military items. 
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education Students Union conducted an anti-junta public talk themed ‘The election is not democracy’. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, the war refugees were provided with household items and food via the program - ‘From the People to the People’ on Saturday. 
  • In Shwebo Township, Black Wolf Army conducted a mine attack on a 12-wheel truck carrying junta soldiers. 
  • In Kalay, the God of Empire Urban Guerrilla attacked the junta irrigation department. Reportedly, a backhoe was burnt down to ashes and the office was damaged. 
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, the junta army has been demanding money from the public through the inspection gate in Inbin Village. According to local PDF, they conducted an attack at close range, leaving 3 junta soldiers seriously injured. 
  • As a 695-day protest, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday. 
  • On Saturday, Taze General Strike marched for the end of the military dictatorship, holding signs for the unity of the public. 
  • At Hledan Market in Yangon Region, young people from UZI Warriors Force Main carried out a public talk against the junta’s superficial election. 
  • In Daegu of South Korea, there was a prayer event against Myanmar’s military dictatorship at the Korea-Myanmar Peace Center on Saturday. 
  • Throughout the country, the military junta has been putting pressure on the public to hold pro-military rallies with 10 people per ward in every township. 
  • In Thanphyu Zayat Township of Mon State, Yay Guerrilla Force set fire to the equipment in the area of a MyTel telecom tower in Sakangyi Village. 
  • A revolutionist known as Burmese Fighter lost his life in a battle in Shwebo Township. Reportedly, he had participated in Yangon urban strikes and left the city for security reason to take up arms against the military dictatorship. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • According to Karenni National Defence Force, there were 36 battles and 10 surprise attacks by the KNDF in Karenni State in January. Reportedly, 22 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Hpapun District under Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (5), there were over 200 battles in January. Reportedly, 47 junta soldiers died. 
  • According to the sources from Kachin Independence Army, the junta army has been conducting bombing via fighter jets on the headquarters of the KIA Brigade (8). 
  • On Saturday, the junta army carried out another aerial attack on the TNLA In Jayan Village in Mai Yaw Area. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta Ministry of Planning and Finance announced that the government employees in two towns of Maungdaw District in Rakhine State would be able to enjoy double salary as a special privilege. 
  • According to the military junta, they had announced before that they would implement (5) action plans and (9) objectives. They changed it to (5) action plans and (12) objectives. 
  • According to Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, 7,600 companies have been removed from the registry since July 2021. 
  • The junta Trade Department announced that there must be online application in advance for the transportation of exports in border trade. 
  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, there was a battle against Border Guard Force-BGF near Chaungtaung Village. According to the junta propaganda media, a member of the KKO/PDF lost their life and 3 others were arrested together with weapons. 
  • The military junta announced that the KNLA and PDF had conducted bombing via drone in Shwegun Village of Hlaingbwe Township in Kayin State, killing two people and injuring two members of the security forces.

  • According to Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, 7,600 companies have been removed from the registry since the military coup. It highlights general hardships including mismanagement of the military junta and international sanctions against the coup. 
  • The military junta declared martial law in 37 townships. After that, they have had to fight hard in those areas.
