The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Daw Khin Ma Ma Myo, Minister of Economy and Commerce-NUG, called on the public to participate in the campaign themed - ‘Let’s boycott the junta army products to be able to enjoy the essence of independence’.
  • In a statement on the special occasion of the 75th Independence Day, the NUG called for the victorious attitude from the history of independence to uproot the military dictatorship.
  • Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) announced that the general public and ethnic revolution forces from all over the country had been fighting against the military junta trying to rule the country by force through violent activities like those of the Fascists.
  • Through One-Day Challenge, Anti-Coup Committee (Korea) has been donating the amount equivalent to 100,000 USD per month to the NUG. Reportedly, they have already supported 1,300,000 USD until 30 December 2022.
  • At 3:00 pm Tuesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Committees Representing Yangon Region, Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.

Revolution Activities

  • In Maha Aungmye Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack on junta army cars on their way to remove the anti-junta banner in front of Manaw Yaman Park.
  • In Natoegyi, a former soldier, allegedly a junta informer, was shot dead. Reportedly, his gun and some bullets were confiscated.
  • In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army ruthlessly killed 9 local people from Alesho Village.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, local people and PDFs protested against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, in commemoration of Independence Day.
  • In Myaing Township, some women drunk alcohol together with Myat Soe Kyaw and Myo Min Thein, junta policemen from the local police station, took away a gun and some bullets from them and provided them to local PDF.
  • In Kyauk Myaung Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Tebin Village for 2 days. Reportedly, they killed 2 civilians and 4 PDF members.
  • On Wednesday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • PDFs attacked and took control of a junta army ration ship going along the Chindwin River. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and the rations were confiscated.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of Rural Rebels and Yinmabin North expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, holding signs - ‘Let’s fight against any dictatorship for the freedom to thrive’.
  • In Kani Township, an anti-junta group organized a public talk related to Independence Day on Tuesday morning.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In KyaIn Seikgyi Township of Kayin State, an alliance of People’s Forces attacked three units of the junta army on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, they managed to take control of two units. As for junta soldiers, many of them died and a lot of others were caught alive.
  • In Sittway of Rakhine State, 3 officers of Arakan Liberation Party-ALP, including their chief military officer, were assassinated on their way back from attending the ceremony of the 75th Independence Day on Wednesday morning.

The Military Council

  • The military junta declared an amnesty for more than 7,000 prisoners and detainees throughout the country.
  • Putin, the Russian President, told the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing that their Vladivostok meeting in September played an important role.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing repeated that they had been proceeding with the plan to hold the general election and hand over responsibility to the winning party.
  • According to the junta propaganda newspapers, only Russia, Cambodia and Nepal sent statements to the junta leader on the 75th Independence Day.
  • The military junta declared the reduction of one sixth sentence of the prisoners except for those charged with the cases of weapons and corruption.

Summary on 4 January

  • The junta leader repeated that they would hold the election and transfer responsibility to the winning party. He had said the same in 2020 General Election. As their proxy-party did not win, they took power by force. They have been trying to hold an election for show while arresting and detaining those supported by the public.
  • There were heavy battles in Kayin State. As for the military junta, they had to let go of their camps one after another. Recently, ethnic revolution forces and PDFs have been unitedly fighting against the junta armed forces.
