The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Human Rights stated that they had been making an effort to help Myanmar people suffering human rights violations on a daily basis to be able to enjoy their innate basic rights in accordance with human dignity.
  • On Monday, the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) released the People’s Police Law sent by the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.
  • On Tuesday, there was a video conference meeting between the Chair of the CRPH and Dr. Noeleen Heyzer, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to Myanmar.
  • On social media, the NUG Minister of Human Rights wrote that "Struggles within Struggle” was making necessary changes while taking part in the mainstream revolution, which would strengthen revolutionary activities even beyond the revolution period.
  • Using authority from Article (5) Section (a) contained in the Anti-Terrorist Law, the NUG formed an anti-terrorist central committee.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, there was fighting in Shapho Village on Tuesday. According to a local PDF, 20 junta soldiers died and their weapons were confiscated.
  • In Kalay Township, the junta army raided Ashaysee Village on 1 May. Reportedly, they set fire to the whole village and killed three villagers.
  • In Salingyi Township, a military truck was attacked with mines by a local guerrilla force somewhere on the Monywa to Pathein Road.
  • In a village of Yinmabin Township, there was a youth-led a protest against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta army was attacked with mines on their way to strengthen security measures at the Letpadaung Copper Mine Project. Reportedly, 15 junta soldiers might have been injured.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta armed forces set fire to Maletha Village on Monday. Reportedly, the whole village was burnt to ashes.
  • In Shwebo Township, local PDFs attacked the junta army between Zeephyugone Village and Seikkum Village on Monday and Tuesday. Reportedly, a captain was seriously injured and there might have been casualties among 30 junta soldiers.
  • On the 420th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Chaung-U Township, junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members from Kinmundaw Village were attacked with mines on 29 April and 1 May. Reportedly, 12 of them died.
  • At about 5:00 pm on Tuesday, the junta armed forces were attacked by a local PDF on Yinmabin-Pale Road. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, the junta army and Pyu Saw Htee raided Chatkan Village on Wednesday noon and set fire to houses in the village.
  • In Titain Township in Chin State, two cow herds from Laihtwe Village stepped on a land mine. Reportedly, one of them died and the other was injured.
  • In Kawhmu Township in Yangon Region, a military convoy was attacked. After the incident, the junta army arrested over 200 local people from three villages for investigation.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, a Pyu Saw Htee group threatened the family of a leader of Dawei District Strike Committee and said that they would kill them.
  • In Maubin in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the house of the NLD MP U Zaw Moe was set on fire in Ward (2) at about 10:00 p.m. on Monday.
  • Among trainees in basic military training Batch (3) of the Burmese People Liberation Army (BPLA), a woman won the award for being the best shot.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, Hmawpone or Madeyan Village was hit with mortars shot by the junta army. Reportedly, two local people lost their lives.
  • In Kyaukse Township, the junta army arrested nine family members, including a child aged four years and nine months, as they could not find a teacher who joined the CDM.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Duplaya District in Kayin State, the Cobra Force showed off the weapons they had confiscated from the junta armed forces in battles.
  • In Demoso Township in Karenni State, the Karenni Revolution Union has been conducting clearance operations in the area. On 30 April, they had two clashes with the junta army. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died and 10 others were injured.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta media, there was a meeting between the second junta leader Soe Win and a representative of a sea-food factory for the very first fish market, industrial zone project and other future plans in Myeik.
  • According to the junta newspaper, legal action will be taken against those who use land without government permits from the government in the Pyin Oo Lwin Area.
  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that the family members of staff must be protected with a parent-like attitude.
  • The junta Ministry of Education announced that those who would like to study at educational colleges could submit their application.

Summary on 5 May

  • Because they suffered great losses the junta had to call in airstrikes in Sagaing Region. Although there were just a few protests in big cities like Yangon and Mandalay, there are many anti-junta movements and revolutionary activities in Magwe, Sagaing and Tanintharyi.
  • In Karenni, Kayin, and Chin states and Sagaing Region, there were heavy battles against the junta armed forces. Reportedly, there were casualties on both sides.
  • In big cities, pro-democracy people have been killed on a daily basis by a junta armed group called the Thwe Thaught. But, there have also been assassinations of junta and pro-military people.
