Spring Revolution Daily News for 5 October 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • The NUG Acting President urged the Ministers to work in accordance with political timing and the PDFs and not to have misunderstandings among themselves. 
  • The NUG Union Prime Minister said that it was not possible to wait for a perfect time to take part in a revolution and revolutionary forces must join hands to overcome challenges. 
  • The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) announced that as soon as reviews and reflections were completed to raise the momentum of the revolution, a second public conference would be conducted. 
  • On Sunday, the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) announced that their committee on public affairs had distributed 1,500 lakh MMK of support to over 2,400 CDM staff members in 2022. 

Revolutionary Activities 

  • Cambodia, the current Chair of ASEAN, stated that all ASEAN members except for Myanmar have been invited to join the ASEAN Summit and related meetings which will be held in November. 
  • On Tuesday, the Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Natoegyi in Mandalay Region, the dead bodies of five people were found with ‘ThweThaught’ badges over them. 
  • On Tuesday, a national rally of anti-junta monks conducted a protest against the military dictatorship. 
  • In downtown Yangon, a bomb was found near a traffic booth on the corner of Pansodan and Bandula roads. Reportedly, the roads were blocked off and it was detonated. 
  • On Tuesday morning, the website of the Department of Rural Development under the junta Ministry of Cooperative and Rural Development was hacked and it called on the public to click on links for funding the revolution. 
  • In Kantbalu Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Zawchaung Village. Reportedly, more than 7,000 local people have had to run away. 
  • In Salingyi Township, four members of the junta police, together with their guns, were shot dead on Monday while they were shopping in Nyaungbingyi Market. Reportedly, four guns were taken from them. 
  • In Kani Township, local PDFs attacked a fleet of 13 junta vessels on Monday. Reportedly, one of the ships was set on fire and 15 junta soldiers died. 
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Kani Township, junta vessels opened fire randomly on local villages. Consequently, over 20,000 local people had to run away. 
  • Daung Lulin PDF, a local defence force based in Yinmabin Township, has managed to produce long-range artillery guns, 60mm mortars and other guns. 
  • In Thayetchaung Township in Tanintharyi Region, a rally of women conducted a march against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, raising anti-junta banners. 
  • Soe Yarzar Aung, a junta soldier who was arrested by the People’s Revolution Army (PRA) in November 2021, said that he was alright under PDFs and it was best for junta soldiers to desert the junta army and join the public. 
  • In Kyonepyaw in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta armed forces arrested three local men including the one aged over 60, accusing them of having contact with PDFs. 
  • In Pathein, the junta armed forces arrested two men for sharing political and related news on social media. 
  • Ko Naung Yoe, a journalist from Voice of Milikha who had been imprisoned under Section 505 (A), was released from Hpakant Prison on Monday. 

Ethnic Armed Organisations 

  • In Pulaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, a military convoy was attacked by a combined force of PDFs, the KNDO and the KPDF. Reportedly, more than 20 junta soldiers died. 
  • Reportedly, a troop of 70 junta soldiers re-occupied Kyait Camp which had been attacked, controlled and abandoned by the KNLA.
  • To produce drones, the Zomi Federal Union (PDF Zoland) based in Chin State organized a fund-raising music concert at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. 
  • Somewhere in Karenni State, Mobye PDF Brigade (2) conducted a traditional blessing ritual for its members fighting in frontline battles against the junta army. 
  • According to the Information Department of the KIO government in Kachin State, they celebrated the 10th anniversary of Laiza FM on Monday. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that except for groundnuts, any other oil crop harvests had not yet met expected targets. 
  • The military junta announced that their local armed forces had been making an effort to rescue Chinese citizens who had been arrested by armed groups and take action against the perpetrators. 
  • The military junta announced that it had arrested 10 men who were going to join explosives training being run by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). 
  • Reportedly, there was an ongoing trial against the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi and President U Win Myint for renting and buying helicopters. 
  • The junta Central Bank of Myanmar stated that Myanmar will have to face shortages of fuel oil, high costs of living and high inflation rates like other countries, due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. 
  • Min Aung Hlaing said that the junta had been promoting food and clothing businesses as food and clothing are essential needs for everyone. 
  • The junta leader said that it was necessary to turn from an edible oil importer to an edible oil exporter. 
  • In a meeting with SME businesses in Yangon, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the economy was the life-blood of the country and the failure of the economy had caused the collapse of the country and political instability. He added that a country needs the driving force of politics, the economy and defence for local stability. 
  • The junta leader urged business people to repay national loans in a timely manner. 

Summary on 5 October 

  • The junta leader said that it would try to make Myanmar an exporter of edible oil. He is not qualified enough to even ensure the smooth process of exporting a few products and he just keeps talking nonsense. 
  • The junta CBM claimed that fuel oil prices became high all over the world due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. The military junta thought that the prices would fall if they got fuel oil from Russia. Now, their expectation might not be fulfilled. 
  • The military junta failed to implement the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus. Even Cambodia, which had been accused of being the junta’s partner, officially announced that they had not invited Myanmar to the ASEAN Summit and related meetings.
