The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the United Nations, claimed that the senior citizens have had to flee their homes due to ruthless air strikes by the junta armed forces and that they are in need of humanitarian assistance.
  • To raise funds for the Spring Revolution and provide more assistance, Myanmar support teams based in South Korea had a discussion with the NUG Representative’s Office.
  • At 10:00 am on Tuesday, there was a meeting between the People’s Police Force under the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration and Township Public Security Forces from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.
  • At 1:00 pm on Tuesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and the Township People’s Administration from Yangon Region.
  • On Tuesday, the NUG declared that the junta Union Election Commission is a terrorist organisation as it was established by the military junta, a terrorist group.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Pathein in Ayeyarwady Region, there was a bomb explosion in front of the Myanmar Economic Bank on Mahar Zaydy Road in Ward (4) at about 7:00 am on Wednesday.
  • In Wetlet Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army arrested and killed seven PDF members on Tuesday.
  • In the north of Kalay Township, there was heavy fighting. According to the CDF KKG, they witnessed the death of seven junta soldiers in the battle near Pyintaw-U Cemetery.
  • On Wednesday morning, a rally of Yin Mar Bin North marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On the Yangon to Mawlamyine Road, a sergeant from the junta army was shot and he died on the spot.
  • In Demoso Township in Kayah State, the junta army fired mortars into local villages for no apparent reason. According to local sources, three houses were damaged and three people were injured.
  • The US Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Council called on UN members not to illegally export or sell weapons to Myanmar’s Army to prevent further human rights violations.
  • In Myeik District in Tanintharyi Region, a combined force of PDFs conducted a mine attack on a 10-wheeled truck carrying junta soldiers near Banlamut Village Tract on the Myeik-Tanintharyi Road.
  • In Launglon Township, the Dawei District Democratic Committee conducted anti-junta public talks in two local villages on Wednesday.
  • In Ye Township in Mon State, a local revolutionary force attacked a junta army camp between Aryutaung Village and Taungzun Village. Reportedly, two junta soldiers on secret patrol died and a member of the junta militia was caught.
  • On the entrance to Yesagyo in Magway Region, there was a mine attack on the junta army. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died.
  • On Tuesday night, the Myaing Township General Strike protested against the military dictatorship.
  • Ethnic Armed Organisations
  • In Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, the junta army conducted helicopter attacks on places where there were military tensions, including Thingan Nyinaung, on Wednesday.
  • On Monday, the leaders of EAOs in Kayin State and Mon State made a commitment to join hands in the fight to uproot the military dictatorship.

The Military Council

  • In the Myanmar Alinn Newspaper on Wednesday, the military junta requested the free use of songs to be performed in the events held in junta departments during Thingyan.
  • Reportedly, three staff members were injured and there was a nationwide power outage.
  • Than Than Swe, the junta Chair of the Central Bank of Myanmar, said that they would inform importers and exporters about the implementation of the Rupee-Kyat Program after the guidelines related to the banking system and their adoption.
  • In a meeting between the National Water Resources Committee, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing ordered the implemention of river water projects on the left and right banks of four major rivers in the country; the Ayeyarwaddy, Chindwin, Sittaung and Thanlwin rivers.
  • According to the junta propaganda media, they arrested 15 online tutors working for the Federal School of Aung Myay Thazan.

Summary on 6 April

  • There has been civil war in almost all parts of the country. However, the military junta has been arranging to celebrate Thingyan in big cities like Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw to try to show that they control the country. They have abused their power by not paying to use copyrighted songs.
  • In Kayin, Karenni and Sagaing, there have been heavy battles. The junta army has been fighting with the support of airstrikes. On the other hand, the PDFs called on the public not to travel unless necessary as there might be heavy fighting prior to Thingyan.
