The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In the area under the control of the NUG in Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, a local PDF confiscated more than 35,000 bags of heroin along the Tanintharyi River.
  • In London in the UK, the NUG Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the anti-junta supporters at Westminster University.
  • On Sunday, Prof. Miemie Winn Byrd met with the NUG representative U Yan Naing Tun at the NUG Representative’s Office in South Korea.
  • At 10:00 pm on 21 January, the NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment got started with the sale of the Brave Spring condo apartments. They sold out within 18 hours.
  • The NUG Ministry of Labour announced that it had helped 10 MOU workers, sent by Myanmar JMK Company and Thailand Project Managing Engineering Corp. Ltd, with wages and job transfer letters.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, Anyar Pyit Tie Taung donated basic food items to 80 village households who were the victims of fire for the fifth time on Saturday.
  • In Khin-U Township, the local public administration donated oil and money to the households from four local villages that had been burnt down by the junta armed forces.
  • In Wetlet Township, there was fighting, five junta soldiers were killed.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta army has been moving out from Pale since Saturday morning. As a result, over 3000 local residents have fled.
  • On the Shwebo-Mandalay road section, there were two mine attacks on a 12-wheel truck carrying members of the junta army. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died.
  • In Madayar Township in Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack from a drone on the junta army near the crossroads of Thitpoatpin Village. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.
  • On Sunday, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • After the military junta declared martial law in Sagaing Region, there was an attack with four projectiles on the junta Northwest Military Region Headquarters.
  • On Saturday, the documentary ‘The Road of the Dawn’ by Director Ko Pauk was shown simultaneously in Japan, Sweden and the Netherlands. Reportedly, a large number of people came to watch it and it raised nearly 2,000 lakh MMK.
  • In Changwon in South Korea, the revolutionary movie directed by Sein Thee and Aung Thaw was shown at the cultural concert hall. Reportedly, it attracted a large number of people.
  • In Ye Township in Mon State, Ko Win Tun, allegedly a junta informer in Kyonelong Village, was shot by a combined force of local PDFs.
  • In Lamai Township, an alliance of local guerrillas attacked a car taking five junta soldiers between Kaninkamaw Village and Aungthaya Village. Reportedly, a captain from the junta army was arrested.
  • In Thanphyu Zayat, Urban Guerrillas conducted an explosion on the junta immigration office.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township in Mandalay Region, a ward administrator, allegedly the leader of the junta group collecting household population data, was shot dead in his house on Saturday.
  • In Zabyuthiri Township in Naypyitaw, there was a bomb attack on the house of U Tin Khine, the junta administrator of Shwe Kyar Bin Ward, at about 7:00 pm on Saturday.
  • In Mingaladone Township in Yangon Region, the military junta confiscated land in five wards in Pyinmabin Tract, claiming that the land belongs to the junta army. Reportedly, the people the army threw off the land have been protesting and say that they want to live there again.
  • In Suwon in South Korea, there have been weekly protests at the Suwon Migrants’ Center and the Myanmar Community every Sunday. On the second anniversary of the coup, the protesters shared anti-junta brochures with Korean people.
  • In Thandaunggyi Township in Kayin State, the junta army set fire to houses at Thandaung 13 Mile for no apparent reason.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Matupi Township in Chin State, there was a battle in the Zotung Area on Saturday. Reportedly, 10 junta soldiers died and five others were injured.
  • In the area under Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (5), there were 209 battles in January. According to the Mutraw Newsletter, 47 members of the junta armed forces died and 55 others were injured.
  • The New Mon State Party announced that efforts to hold an election without resolving the crisis in the country will just lead to conflict and more bloodshed.

The Military Council

  • In Loikaw Township in Karenni State, the junta army shot mortars at Waryikawku Village, even though there was no fighting in the area, at about 10:00 pm on Saturday. Reportedly, a church and over 10 houses were damaged and a person was injured.
  • On Saturday, the military junta expressed its objections to the statements of the international community, including the United Nations, on the second anniversary of the coup.
  • The military junta stated that despite the calls from some countries and responsible personnel at the UN for the restoration of democracy in Myanmar, they had been criticising efforts to hold an election. They claimed that it was like saying one thing and doing another.
  • On Monday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing will attend the opening ceremony of the Russia-Myanmar Nuclear Technology Information Center at the RC2 Hlaing Campus.
  • According to the junta Central Bank, licenses were issued to three service providers to act as the third party between buyers and sellers to make payment with a QR Code easier.
  • The military junta announced that among the 679 Myanmar people in Thailand facing difficulties returning home, 170 had been taken by junta boats to their homes in Yangon Region and Mon State.

Summary on 6 February

  • There have been more activities of the revolutionary forces in Sagaing, Magwe and Mon State. On the other hand, the junta soldiers have been attacking non-military targets, killing local people and burning villages.
  • A large number of people came to watch the documentary by Director Ko Pauk as well as the revolutionary movie directed by Ko Sein Thee and Ko Aung Thaw. In recent days, the general public took part in the Nationwide Silent Strike. Judging from this, the people have been in great support of the Spring Revolution against the military dictatorship.
