The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Interim NUG Chin National Consultative Council and Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Natural Disaster Risks Management released a joint statement that the military junta had been prohibiting humanitarian assistance in townships in Chin State, robbing and destroying things, threatening the lives of social workers and opening fire on IDP camps.
  • According to the NUG, nearly 90,000 people in Chin State have had to leave their homes due to invasive attacks of the junta armed forces after the military coup.
  • The NUG Ministry of Judiciary Affairs expressed its condemnation of the lawless activities of the military junta and their various ways of approving the death penalty. They also stated that action would be taken against all stakeholders.
  • On Saturday, there was a training completion event for training in the use of Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines organized by the NUG, MOE, VEC and the Mobile Medical Team M.M.T (West Division).

Revolutionary Activities

  • In their statement on Saturday, the French Embassy in Myanmar officially referred to the military junta as an illegitimate military government.
  • According to World Food Program (WFP), it has been making an effort to provide food assistance in Magwe Region, Chin State and Sagaing Region.
  • In Daegu in South Korea, the Spring Revolution Cup is being held between eight football teams. Reportedly, each team had to chip in 500,000 Won and the winning team will donate their prize money worth 4,000,000 Won to the NUG Ministry of Defence.
  • In Gangaw Township in Magwe Region, the junta army raided the Yaw PDF camp on Saturday. Reportedly, junta soldiers stepped on mines and eight of them died.
  • The military junta has been making investigations to find out who sent a video to Khit Thit Media. In the video, police officer from No. (2) Police Station Magwe and a soldier from the junta air force were arguing and fighting. Reportedly, all the staff members from the whole station would be demoted and imprisoned if the sender could not be identified. For the time being, they are all in detention.
  • In Kyaikto Township in Mon State, Khin Win, an advisor to the Pyu Saw Htee group in Kyaukyedwin Village, was assassinated by a combined force of PDFs at about 7:15 pm on Saturday.
  • In Yetashay Township in Bago Region, Khin Maung, a junta-appointed administrator, was shot by a local PDF at 6:09 p.m. on Saturday. Reportedly, he was injured in the incident.
  • In Thanlyin Township in Yangon Region, a local PDF carried out an attack on the house of Aung Ngwe, a leader of Thwethaught Group in Bagandaung Village at about 10:27 p.m. on Saturday. Reportedly, three Thwethaught members, including the leader, were seriously
  • injured.
  • After information was leaked to Khit Thit Media about the list of officers and staff members in the junta investigation unit who made the case against the President and State Counsellor, some members of Nay Pyi Taw Investigation Unit have been detained and their
  • phones have been inspected.
  • On their 451 st day of protest, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Yinmabin North, a rally of three villages marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Sunday morning and chanted anti-junta slogans.
  • In Salingyi Township, the Monywa University Students’ Union and the Letpadaung General Strike conducted an anti-junta march in a village, raising a banner against junta education.
  • Than Zaw Oo, a deserter from the junta army’s Ka-Ma-Ya (368), confessed that the junta armed forces set fire to the houses where they found Tumi guns (muskets) and Peacock flags, and they took away valuable things. He also urged junta army officers to stop such activities and join the public.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, the Dawei Defense Team assassinated a member of the Thwethaught armed group in Kyaukpone Village at about 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Kawthulay administrative area under the KNU, there were a total of 448 battles in May. Reportedly, 303 members of the junta army and Border Guard Force died and 215 others were injured. As for the KNLA/ KNDO, seven members sacrificed their lives for the country and 26 others were injured.
  • In peace discussions with the military junta, the MNDAA stated that they would not split from the union and they had been committed to three main national duties.
  • On Friday, the Chin Defence Force - Mindat announced that it would start taking action against staff members who had been working with the military junta.
  • A Deputy Major General of the Kachin Independent Army (KIA) wrote a post on social media, criticising the decision of the military junta to approve of the death penalty of U Jimmy and U Phyo Zayyar Thaw, leaders of the Spring Revolution.
  • According to the KNU, the junta army threatened to destroy villages if a junta captain and a sergeant, arrested and detained by the KNU, were not released. Reportedly, villagers had to run away.
  • In Hpapun District under KNU Brigade (5), the junta army was attacked by the KNLA and the BPLA on Saturday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died, three others were injured and two of their donkeys were killed.
  • In Karenni State, the People’s Embrace, in cooperation with the Urban Revolution Front, managed to help a junta sergeant clerk to join the CDM together with his weapons.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that a PDF had set fire to the township education office in Sawbwain Ward in Tamu in Sagaing Region.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Education, the results for the matriculation exam for the 2021-22 academic year will come out on 12 June.
  • Deputy Major General Than Hlaing, the junta Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, was dismissed from his military duties, which he had resumed on 2 May.
  • In Yaminthin in Mandalay Region, pro-military supporters and USDP members supported the effort of Min Aung Hlaing for peace and protested against external interferences.

Summary on 6 June

  • The United Nations- UN and international community expressed their condemnation against the statement of the military junta that they would take action regarding the death penalty of Ko Jimmy and Ko Phyo Zayyar Thaw. As for some countries, they referred to the military council as an illegitimate government. This might pose more challenges for the dictators in international affairs.
  • In Yangon and Mandalay, the protests decreased and so did the activities of the guerrilla revolution. But in Bago, Mon, Tanintharyi and Shan South, they had more anti-junta movements including armed attacks.
  • Despite the internet blackout in Sagaing Region, there were local protests against the military dictatorship as usual. In some areas, there were heavy battles between the junta armed forces and PDFs. As junta soldiers keep burning villages, the number of IDPs is on the rise and some of them are in urgent need of food.
