The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Sunday, the NUG announced a policy on compulsory taxation and allocation for implementation by the interim administration.
  • After the Union Parliament, a statement came out saying that there would be cooperation with all political groups for the establishment of a federal democratic union.
  • With the signature of Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than, the NUG blacklisted and dismissed 35 officers from Department of Historical Research and the National Library under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture for the oppression of CDM staff members.
  • The acting President of the NUG delivered the opening speech for the International Discussion of Myanmar’s Spring Flowers, which is being held in the U.S from 5th to 12th February.
  • The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (NUG) warned of the danger of forest fires to the revolution forces in Myanmar, especially local PDFs, IDPs and the public.
  • The NUG announced its policy on taxation, allocating 30% of taxes for the Union level, 30% for public administration and 40% for defense.

Revolution Activities

  • On Sunday, the Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • At about 10:00 am Sunday, the junta armed forces cleared out people from their houses on 117 street and 65*66 street in Mandalay by force, saying that they belong to squatters.
  • In Mahlaing Township, Win Hsint, the junta-appointed administrator of Kyauktan village, was killed on Sunday morning.
  • In Mandalay there was a rally on Sunday morning by the Mandala Students’ Union who were protesting against the military dictatorship and the junta’s education policies on Sunday morning.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township, the military junta sealed off Tayza Lingara monastery on 78 street at about 10:00 am Saturday.
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, a combined rally of students and local people placed anti-junta posters in the town on Sunday afternoon.
  • As part of a 364-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In a village in Shwebo Township, local people marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.
  • In Yangon Region, there were bomb explosions at Latha street in the downtown area, Shwepyitha municipal office, and North Okkalapa Township on Sunday morning.
  • On Sunday morning, a combined rally of the Burmese Students’ Union, the Young Poets’ Union and the North Dagon Strike Committee representing the oppressed marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • In Thaketa Township, a grenade was thrown near the compound of the junta navy camp on Shukhintha road on Saturday night.
  • In Yangon, the military junta tightened overnight guest reporting and conducted step-by-step inspections.
  • In Thaketa Township, the Burma Final Revolution Armed Force set off an explosion, as a warning against a cock fighting event, at about 11:24 am Saturday.
  • In South Dagaon Township, the military junta announced that no motorbikes were allowed and if found, they would be confiscated. They started enacting the policy on Sunday morning.
  • In Taungoo in Bago Region, the District Students’ Union carried out a red-paint campaign against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kyobingauk Township, the junta army shot dead Mg Phyo Kyaw Han from behind after they had found out the NUG profile on his phone.
  • In Ingapu Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, second police officer Hlaing Ye arrested people every night, saying that they were anti-junta people. He then extorted money from them by force.
  • As part of a 333-day protest, a rally of residents from Yinmabin villages marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Mawlight Township, over 350 people have been illegally mining gold after bribing the junta army officer Thiha Win.
  • In Pale Township, a combined force of local PDFs conducted attacks on the police station and administration office on Saturday night. Reportedly, no less than 8 people died.
  • In Wetlet Township, the local PDF blew up a MyTel telecom tower near Chaungsone village at about 10:00 pm on Saturday night.
  • In Myinmu Township, junta soldiers stationed in Maduya village killed 4 people. In addition, over 200 villagers had to run away.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta army raided Nyaungbintha village and destroyed rice in people’s houses by mixing acid and detergent powder into the rice.
  • In the north of Myaing Township, basic education students led a protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Phakant Township, the military junta had a great loss in the Manawtmaw battle. After that, four military helicopters unloaded about 60 junta soldiers on Saturday.
  • In Shweku Township, a pro-military Pyusawti member from Sindat village was killed by PDF forces after he failed to follow their three previous warnings.
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, a car of Pyusawti members was attacked by PDF forces at about 10:30 am Saturday. Reportedly, 3 of them died and 4 others were injured. According to the local PDF, some weapons were confiscated as well.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to a communication officer from the KIO, the military junta conducted air strikes targeting villages in Kachin battles, causing casualties among civilians.
  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, San Lin Htwe, a fully-armed second sergeant from the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (304) joined the local CDF.
  • In Phakant-Namyar, there were 3 battles between the junta army and the KIA on Saturday, causing a great loss among junta soldiers, including the death of an officer.
  • In the north of Maungdaw Township in Rakhine State, there was fighting between the Arakan Army (AA) and the junta army on Friday.

The Military Council

  • In Kyaukme in Shan North, the military junta arrested an IDP, accusing him of being involved with PDFs. They then killed him in the interrogation.
  • According to Nay Pyi Taw public health department, COVID-19 tests resumed at the Selansone booth at the entrance to the capital. They restarted on Thursday evening as the number of incoming and outgoing people was on the rise.
  • According to the junta newspaper, Myawaddy Bank opened its 67th branch in Mawbi of Yangon Region, in honor of Union Day.
  • According to the junta newspaper, there were lawsuits against over 10 people for sharing NUG announcements on social media.
  • The junta Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations announced that more than 9000 business people from 50 countries had come back to the country.

Summary on 6 February

  • In Kachin State, KIA conducted invasive attacks all over the area, causing great losses for the military junta. Consequently, the junta armed forces had to use airstrikes and strengthen their forces via helicopters.
  • In Rakhine State, battles resumed after the coup, causing casualties for both sides. The AA said that there must be revenge for losses. Consequently, there might be battles again in the area.
  • Reportedly, the junta army commits mass murders and war crimes in Sagaing Region on a daily basis. Consequently, the public, out of a sense of prejudice, would continue their fight against the Fascist armed forces in any possible way.
