The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Mandalay People’s Defence Force-PDF under the Ministry of Defence-NUG released a video of their military performance.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, Pyin Oo Lwin District PDF attacked the local police station in Chaunggyi Village.
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG stated that only when the needs of the leaders on ground could be met, the momentum of the revolution could be raised up.
  • To raise funds for the arms of Southern Regional Headquarters Dawna Column, the movie ‘Pho Maung has returned’ will be shown via an online cinema system.

Revolution Activities

  • In Sagaing Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Dibeyingwe Village. Reportedly, they set fire to people’s houses and shot dead 4 people including a MA graduate monk from Sidagu Buddhist University.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta armed forces set fire to Phaunggada Village and Binga Village on Friday afternoon.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • Holding anti-junta signs, a rally of Zayyar 5 marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Monywa, PDFs attacked the junta army making inspections. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died.
  • In Pale, PDFs conducted an attack with mortars on the local police station, where the junta army had been stationed, at about 8:00 pm Thursday.
  • The Rural Land donated medicine and food for the sick at Kayar IDP camp, the injured comrades and members of revolution forces.
  • In Chauk Township of Magwe Region, local guerrillas attacked the junta municipal office and electricity department on Thursday evening.
  • In Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region, the Cuckoo Battalion opened an emergency clinic and a mobile operation theatre in a liberated area.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, the prison staff harshly beat 8 political prisoners in Pathein Prison on Thursday night.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In KyarIn Seikgyi and Kawkarait of Kayin State, over 90 junta soldiers died in local battles against PDFs over 6 days.
  • Karenni National Defense Force-KNDF released the annual summary on military news in Karenni State. Reportedly, 797 junta soldiers died and 93 others were injured in local battles.
  • In cooperation with KTLA Lion Battalion Commando, Saw Dragon Drone Force-SDDF managed to conduct bombing twice on Dagundine Police Station on Sunday.
  • Via Facebook, Vice-Chair (1) of Kachin Independence Council-KIC called for collective effort to be able to enjoy a happy 2023.

The Military Council

  • In Indaw of Sagaing Region, the military junta has been sharing brochures calling on PDFs and those who have run away to return home.
  • The military junta met with the three ethnic armed organizations-EAOs which have not signed the National Ceasefire Agreement-NCA. Reportedly, they discussed the amendment of the Constitution.
  • Than Than Swe, the junta Chair of the Central Bank, said that they had been giving priorities to the use of more digital payment, the reduction of using cash and the stability of money.
  • The CEC of Union Solidarity and Development Party-USDP including their Chair U Khin Yi had a free meeting with 37 political parties, which had attended the ceremony on the 75th Independence Day.
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between the junta Minister of Hotel and Tourism and the Thai Ambassador to Myanmar for more flights between the two countries.
  • On Thursday, the junta Union Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations received the visit of a delegation led by the Thai Ambassador to Myanmar.

Summary on 6 January

  • Despite the junta propaganda that the junta leaders have been protecting the religion with great respect, they have been burning and killing people including monks.
  • With incentives, the military junta has been persuading ethnic armed organizations to hold an election. In fact, they have been telling lies to abuse the election as an escape for them.
  • Recently, the NUG has shown the number of PDFs. At the same time, they have joined hands with the EAOs to fight against the military dictatorship. In other words, the light of hope has come out for the public under the military rule.
