The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Due to an online petition with 500,000 signatures by Myanmar people, hearings started at the New Zealand parliament to recognize the NUG as the official government of Myanmar.
  • Union Prime Minister said that international community started to contact the NUG to be able to officially recognize them as the government as they managed to conduct more administration on the ground.
  • In the area of Northern Brigade (510), the one-year anniversary of the People’s Defence Force was celebrated.
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting via video conferencing between Dr. Noeleen Heyzer, Special Representative of the UN to Myanmar, and Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG.
  • On the one-year anniversary of the PDF, Union Minister U Lwin Ko Latt read out a statement sent by the Ministry of Defence-NUG.
  • Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG announced the list of sales representatives for shares of land and building in No. (14) on Inlya Road, confiscated by the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • On Thursday, the NUG announced that only they would take responsibility for the administration of the states and federal units, in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that in cooperation with ethnic revolution forces, they have started to equip the PDF with arms.

Revolution Activities

  • In Kyaukse of Mandalay Region, 2 male members of the NLD Party were killed and their dead bodies were discarded at the crossroads of Kyaukse-Palait on Friday morning.
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, U Kyi Soe, a USDP member from Akani Village, was shot dead at about 4:00 pm Thursday.
  • In Longlone Township, PDF members attacked the local police station in Thagyettaw Area on Thursday night, singing anti-junta songs.
  • In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army stationing in Ywathitgone Village was attacked with mines by local PDF at 9:00 am Friday. Reportedly, 19 junta soldiers died.
  • In Monywa Township, Basic Education Students’ Union hung an anti-junta banner at a school on Friday.
  • In Kani Township, the junta police and soldiers ran away from Winmana Area police station. After that, an alliance of local PDFs did the clearance operation there.
  • On the road section of Monywa-Yargyi-Kalaywa, Dragon Brothers Task Force – DBTF has been taking security measures to block passage to junta armed forces.
  • In Butalin Township, the junta army set fire to Kanthit Eastern Village at 4:30 am Friday. Reportedly, over 50 houses were burnt to ashes and an old woman aged 70 died in the fire.
  • As a 422-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • As a 422-day protest, a powerful rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of Shwe Kun Myay marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, a combined rally of Sc Strike, Revolution Force (RF), Labour Alliance (CTUM), LGBT Community Yangon and AYF placed an anti-junta banner on Friday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to the Vice-Chair of theArakan Liberation Party, there was a meeting among the ethnic armed organizations, that would attend the peace discussion invited by the junta leader, for the main theme of discussion.
  • Via Twitter on Friday morning, Chief Military Officer of the Arakan Army warned that if the military junta annoy them, they would not care about peace and conduct attacks even in the residential place of the junta chief military officer of the Western Region.
  • In Beelin Township under KNU, there were many casualties among junta soldiers due to an ambush by the KNLA.
  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, the junta army convoys were attacked by the KA and KNDF at two places on 4 May. Reportedly, 2 military trucks were damaged and there were casualties among no less than 3 others.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, local people marched for the KIA, PDF and NUG. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • Somewhere in the area under the control of KNDO on Thursday, the Chief of the KNDO welcomed over 200 DKBA members led by Captain Salone, who had joined them.

The Military Council

  • On 4 May, there was a grand ceremony of the launching of the MRTV Application at MICC (2) in Nay Pyi Taw. There, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech.
  • On 4 May, MRTV Application was launched on global platforms such as Apple Store and Google Playstore. The following day, it was removed from them.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that only when the financial resources were available and abundant for the country, government employees could be supported and necessities of the country could be fulfilled.
  • The junta Minister of Health said that Nay Pyi Taw 1000-bed Hospital would soon be upgraded as the main teaching hospital.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that Myanmar youth and people abroad lacked patriotism, and that they had been doing things to damage the country.
  • The military junta instructed their armed forces from all over the country to recite Parittas on designated days.
  • The junta leader said that whenever a peace discussion was invited, it was typical for the forces that leaders act this way and followers do the other.
  • With the invitation of H.E. Mr. Prak Sokhoon, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the junta Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing was in Cambodia.
  • The junta leader said that the current administration was almost like the system of sharing, and it would be better to only establish a form of federalism which would suit the country.

Summary on 6 May

  • Despite their invitation for peace discussions, the military junta was faced with hardships as powerful ethnic armed organizations were not likely to attend it. Consequently, the junta leader felt nervous and talked nonsense even at their meeting.
  • On the other hand, the Chief of Arakan Army gave a strong warning to the junta military officer in chief of Western Region. Consequently, there might be battles in Rakhine State again. However, it is questionable whether the military junta would respond with gunfire there as they have had battles all over the country.
  • The military junta made an effort for their propaganda online with MRTV App via phones. Actually, such propaganda mechanisms had been banned on social media. However, they might think that only Facebook would do so, not Apple Store and Google Playstore. The junta leader himself attended the grand ceremony of the launch of the application. The next day, it was removed from those stores and international community showed their disapproval of the whole military junta.
