The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Acting President said that during a a year of the People’s Defensive War, they had successes as well as challenges and losses. He also added that they must try their best by being very determined and learn lessons to overcome challenges and keep working towards the public’s aspirations.
  • The Acting President said that the military junta had been driving citizens to run away from the country with various forms of oppression whereas the NUG had been trying to help protect Myanmar people who had left their motherland for various reasons.
  • The Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than expressed thanks to the NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment for its fund-raising activities even though they still did not get external support for the revolution. He also thanked the local and international communities for their various financial contributions.
  • According to The End of Dictatorship, there were only 40 pieces of Mindama land left in their Spring Yangon Investment fundraising sale.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The World Food Programme announced that after the armed conflicts grew intense, local people in Paletwa Township had to face shortages of food and a high cost of living since transportation was cut off.
  • In Kani Township in Sagaing Region, junta soldiers raped seven local women from two villages including one with learning problems.
  • In Kyunghla Township and Kani Township in Sagaing Region, Myaing Township of Magwe Region, Mon State and Kayin State, the junta armed forces have been firing mortars and brutally killing civilians. Consequently, tens of thousands of local people have had to run away.
  • In Tigyaint Township, local people expressed their desire on Tuesday for the United Nations to keep U Kyaw Moe Tun as Myanmar’s Ambassador. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Wetlet Township, local PDFs attacked the junta army camp in Shanmakar Village using five drones, on Monday afternoon.
  • On their 544th day of protest, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship, raising banners that said "Accept the NUG and Our Ambassador, Reject the Dictator" and "UN, Prove your existence for justice".
  • In Myaung Township, a large number of the junta armed forces invaded the area and took away over 20 local people to use as porters.
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, local people expressed their desire for the UN to keep Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun. They then marched for the KIA, PDF and NUG. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday, the Maymyo General Strike carried out an anti-junta movement with a banner that said "Accept the NUG and Our Ambassador, Reject the Dictator".
  • In Thatone Township in Mon State, a local PDF fired 40mm grenade at the junta army camp near Gyarban Inspection Gate on the Thatone to Phaang Road at 7:05 pm on Monday. Reportedly, a captain and a sergeant died whereas 5 others were injured.
  • According to the Mizoram State Education Minister, nearly 6,000 children of Myanmar refugees have been learning in Mizoram State in India.
  • In Mrauk-U in Rakhine State, junta soldiers have been combing the local market saying that there are mines there. According to local people, the military junta has just been frightening the public deliberately.
  • According to Dawei Political Prisoners’ Network on Monday, there are over 40 women in Dawei Prison, who have been sentenced on various charges for their anti-junta movements.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the Kawthoolei Administration Area of Hpapun District under the Karen National Union  (KNU) Brigade 5, there were 118 battles between the junta army + Border Guard Force (BGF) against the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in August. Reportedly, 84 junta soldiers died and 47 others were injured.
  • On Monday, the United League of Arakan called on the international community, organisations and international war crime watch institutions to monitor the war crimes and the destruction of cultural heritage by the military junta.

The Military Council

  • The Chair of the junta Union Election Commission (UEC ) said that only after four meetings with 71 political parties, they had reached an agreement to adopt the Proportional Representation (PR) System in the upcoming election.
  • The junta media stated that the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing had visited the Navy Headquarters, the Submarine Headquarters, the International Harbour, Medical School and the Medical Center in the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Russia.
  • The junta Minister of Information said that they would carry out educational and entertainment programs for the public via the media.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, they have been making arrangements to include the subjects of agriculture and livestock at high schools starting from the next academic year.
  • In spite of the junta’s announcement that 200 million USD would be given to support the fuel oil price, it was on the rise again.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, the military junta has been collecting from the rich and conducting so-called economical sales of goods.
  • In a trip to Russia for the 7th Eastern Economic Forum, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing was accompanied by the junta chief ministers of Chin State and Karenni State where there has been heavy fighting.
  • Although the junta’s fund support of 200 million USD was reportedly allocated to support the edible oil market, the price has continued to rise.

Summary on 7 September

  • In Rakhine State, the junta armed forces could not fight the Arakan Army (AA). So, they arrested the civilians and opened fire in urban areas. In response, the Chief Military Officer of the AA said that the military junta had done cowardly things and the public were to take caution. In Mrauk-U, junta soldiers used sound mines to frighten local people.
  • Despite the junta’s sales of USD and gold to reduce the prices of edible oil, fuel oil, gold and foreign currency, the prices remained stable just for three days. With such short-term fixes, the cost of living will continue to rise.

  • The junta armed forces have been committing war crimes and suffering great losses in battle zones by burning villages and killing people. Consequently, local people have had to run away and the number of displaced people has been increasing in the country on a daily basis.
