Spring Revolution Daily News for 7 September 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· The NUG announced that the Acting President would deliver the national speech on 7 September, the 2nd anniversary of declaring a People’s Defensive War.

· At 3:00 pm on 5 September, the 78th United Nations General Assembly was conducted. Present on the occasion was the delegation led by Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun.

· At 10:00 am Tuesday, there was a meeting between People’s Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and Township People’s Security Forces from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.

· At 1:00 pm Tuesday, there was a meeting (17/2023) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration Team from Yangon Region.

· In the government meeting on Tuesday, the Acting President reminded the people about the adoption of behavior and attitude, which suit the dignity of a government.

Revolution Activities

· In Boatpyin Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta police force arrested 3 local people including a woman, accusing them of trading lead illegally. Reportedly, they have been out of contact for two weeks now.

· On Tuesday, the revolution forces distributed posters calling for the junta soldiers and police to join the CDM at 11 crowded places in Yangon and Mandalay.

· Yangon People Revolution Supply Force has invited new suppliers who can provide monthly support for urban operations in Yangon.

· In Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State, the junta army fired shells to Pyarsakan Village on Tuesday. Reportedly, two civilians were hit and lost their lives.

· In Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region, a man was arrested at the junta’s Phayarme Gate near Maungmeshaung Village at about 3:00 pm Monday.

· The focal person of Madaya The Authentic Genes Force-MDA AGF claimed that their resignation from Madaya PDF under the NUG was not a divide and it was intended to strengthen the revolution.

· In Nyaung-U Township of Mandalay Region, there was a mine attack on a junta car on security patrol for the junta’s football match. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers including Sergeant Aung Soe Moe died.

· In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, there was a heavy battle between the junta army stationing in Kyaukgone Village and the PDF on Wednesday. Reportedly, the junta soldiers had a great loss whereas 4 PDF members got injured.

· In the south of Kantbalu Township, the junta army has been invading the area. Reportedly, a large number of people from many villages have had to run away.

· In Wetlet Township, a large number of the junta armed forces have been invading local villages. Reportedly, thousands of local people have had to run away.

· On Wednesday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Monywa, there was an attack via 3 projectiles at the opening ceremony of the junta’s computer school in Shwe Taung Oo.

· On Monday, Justice for Myanmar released a statement, calling on Singapore to put pressure on the tycoons aged 30 and above in support of the military junta for finance and weapons.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Karenni State, there were over 50 battles in which Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) got involved, in August. Reportedly, 110 junta soldiers died and over 40 others were injured.

· On Wednesday, there were heavy battles in the areas near Laiza, the Headquarters of Kachin Independence Army (KIA).

· In Nyaunglebin District of Eastern Bago Region, 2 people lost lives within two days due to the junta’s heavy artillery and air strikes. According to Karen National Union (KNU), nearly 3000 people had to run away.

The Military Council

· In Yenangyaung of Magwe Region, the military junta has been arresting people with motorbikes for various reasons.

· In the news on AFP on Tuesday, a focal person of the junta’s proxy Union Solidarity and Development Party stated that the military junta would be able to hold the election only in 2025.

· The ASEAN Summit decided to transfer the rotating chairmanship of the Association to the Philippines, instead of Myanmar’s military junta, for 2026.

· The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they were not present at the meeting as they had been denied equal representation.

· According to the junta propaganda leader General Zaw Min Tun, they have had regular meetings with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in detention.

· There was a meeting between Thailand and Myanmar to effectively prevent the swindling via online games.

· The junta Transportation Department stated that automobiles must be inspected as well when going to the vehicle registration department for license.

· According to the junta Yangon Regional Investment Committee, there were 45 local and international investments in the region from January to August.

Summary on 7 September

· The ASEAN do not recognize the military junta killing people and burning villages as a government. They have not provided them with the opportunity to be the rotating Chair of the Association.

· In the upcountry, the public have not been able to conduct anti-junta protests due to heavy rain and violent activities of the junta armed forces.
