Summary on 7th September

  • Relying on ASEAN, the military junta had been trying to break down the revolution. Despite degradations in various sectors of the country, the junta media mentioned development. In recent days, responsible personnel from the military council had been looking at the agriculture and livestock sector all across states and regions. Although they said that the sector was making progress, farmers had a loss in terms of cost and threw away their crops on the roadside. It was typical of high living costs at times of political instability. However, there was a sharp decline in prices in the current situation. Farmers did not get a good price whereas customers could not buy. It had never happened before the tenure of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • Due to the news that PDFs would make attacks, the junta armed forces inspected cities with too much force in towns. They strengthened their manpower and mobilized their armed forces in Dawei, Myeik and Ye. They had been preparing for possible attacks by PDFs on D-day.
  • It was KNU territory in which they had been mobilizing their forces. That’s why they had clashes with KNU forces.
  • In Mandalay and Sagaing regions, there were public protests regularly. As for Yangon and other towns, they made protests whenever they had a chance. The activities of armed revolution increased, not only in the towns which had done them before but also in other ones, including the towns with very few protests.
