The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On 24 April, a Myanmar New Year trade fair and NUG bond sale will be held in New Jersey in the U.S.
  • On Tuesday, there was a meeting between a delegation led by the NUG Minister of Human Rights and Mrs. Beth Van Schaack, the U.S Foreign Ministry’s Global Crimes and Justice Department Ambassador.

Revolutionary Activities

  • On Wednesday, the U.S Lower House of Representatives approved the BURMA Act 2021, which could lead to action being taken against the military junta. Reportedly, the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs under the Lower House of Representatives stated that the military junta must be held accountable for their human rights violations.
  • Daw Than Than Swe, the Vice Chair of the junta Central Bank, was shot in front of her house in Bahan Township in Yangon Region on Thursday morning.
  • According to a representative of the People’s Hlaingthaya Force Team, two bombs exploded in front of Insein Prison in Insein Township on Thursday morning.
  • In Shwepyitha Township, the Free Tiger Ranger sissued a letter of warning to Ko Htwe, an alleged junta informer.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, three military trucks carrying aluminium went missing on the Pathein-Monywa Road on Wednesday evening.
  • On Wednesday, there was a fighting near Ngaphe. According to Asho Chin Defence Force (ACDF), 20 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Wetlet Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Ywanan Village on Thursday morning with incendiary ammunition. Reportedly, almost the whole village was set on fire.
  • The military junta has been making an effort to celebrate the upcoming water festival to demonstrate to the international community that they can rule the country and the public accepted them.
  • On the 392nd day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In a village of Salingyi Township, local people conducted their 346th day of protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning, laying wreaths in honor of 10 martyrs who had sacrificed their lives.
  • On their 424th day of protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning. In memory of the crackdown on the 2nd Tahan fort last year, they also saluted and laid wreaths to the eight martyrs who lost lives then.
  • In Shweku Township in Kachin State, the Myohla PDF attacked two military motorboats carrying rations at about 11:00 am on Thursday. Reportedly, both boats sank.
  • In Myitkyina, young activists from the KSCM conducted an anti-junta protest at the Nankway Stream, putting images of the junta leader and his servants into condoms implying that they should not have been born.
  • In Thandaung Township in Karen State, the administrator of Ward (3) was killed on Thursday morning. Reportedly, members of the junta armed forces, who had come to the scene to take his body, were attacked with mines and six of them, including a police officer, were injured.
  • In Titain Township in Chin State, Kyi Min Tun, a junta-appointed township administrator, was shot the head and died.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, a member of the Nyinmaw Village Administration was shot dead in the market at 6:30 am on Thursday.
  • On 4 April, the junta army arrested a CDM police member at the Kyaukmetaung Crossroads in Myitta Township.
  • On Thursday, the Mandalay Urban Guerrillas warned the public not to travel on two sections of rail lines for two days, starting from 9 April.
  • In Yetashay Township in Bago Region, a troop of 50 junta soldiers was attacked by local PDF forces at 6:20 am Wednesday.
  • Letters to Prison has been helping family members of more than 500 political prisoners to send mail to prisoners every month.
  • Ethnic Armed Organizations
  • In Chin State, a convoy of 84 military trucks arrived near Matupi on Thursday and a local CDF attacked them at 6:40 am. Reportedly, they fought for over an hour and five junta soldiers were killed and many others were injured.
  • In Hpapun District under the control of KNU Brigade (5), Kyaw Min Aung, a soldier from the junta’s Mewine Camp, joined the KNU, together with his weapons.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta news sources Daw Than Than Swe, the Vice-Chair of the junta Central Bank, was shot at the Shwegon Yeitmon Housing Estate in Bahan Township in Yangon Region at about 10:00 am on Thursday.
  • The chair of the Shan National Democratic Party said that they had presented eight sections of the Constitution for amendment to the junta peace committee.
  • Khin Yi, the junta immigration minister, instructed airport staff to prepare for the entry of foreigners, Myanmar people and international flights starting from 17 April.
  • On 5 April, the junta trade department warned importers that legal action would be taken against them according to Notification (50/2020) if they only apply for import permits after their imports have already arrived.
  • In Tontay Township in Yangon Region, the military junta sealed off the house of U Aung Ko Latt, an EC member of the NLD, and the house of Ko Phyo Waii Aung, a member of the 2020 NLD election campaign.
  • On Wednesday in Nay Pyi Taw, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing received Ms. Andrea Marie Faulkner, the Australian Ambassador who is about to leave the country at the end of her term.

Summary on 8 April

  • The Vice-Chair of the junta Central Bank was shot. She is one of the highest-ranking members of the military junta to be attacked. It demonstrates that those working for the junta should not feel safe as long as they are on the side of injustice.
  • In Magwe Region, military trucks from a weapons factory were confiscated. After that, the junta army conducted constant airstrikes, causing casualties to junta soldiers in detention.
  • In Sagaing Region and Chin and Karen States, there were constant battles against the junta armed forces. In Sagaing, junta soldiers set fire to villages and committed rapes.
