Spring Revolution Daily News for 8 April 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Committee on Security and Defence under Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and Ministry of Human Rights-NUG to protect the public. 
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG called for full coordination and guidance via the policies and procedures. 
  • Through One-Day Challenge, the Anti-Coup Committee (Korea) donated their monthly financial support in Won, which is equivalent to 100,000 USD, to the NUG. 
  • According to Ministry of Human Rights-NUG, the junta army Regiment (33) raided Maungtaung Village and killed 4 local people. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, a child lost both legs as he stepped on a mine set by the junta army. 
  • On Friday, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In the north of Kalay Township, 25 junta soldiers died in local battles for 7 days. Reportedly, the junta army killed a PDF member and two local people. 
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, local PDFs attacked with both mines and drone on the junta army troop. 
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army killed two civilians on their way of invasion. They also burnt 174 houses and many barns within 3 days. 
  • In Patheingyi Township of Mandalay Region, Aung Ngwe Soe, a junta second police sergeant taking security at the sub-power station in Aungchantha Village, was shot dead. Reportedly, his gun was taken away by the gunmen. 
  • At 5:15 pm Wednesday, there was a mine attack on two military cars between Kan Village and Kan Hnaung Village on their way from Natoegyi to Myingyan. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 2 others got injured. 
  • In Sintku Township, there was a mine attack on 3 ten-wheel trucks carrying junta soldiers. 
  • In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, a combined force of 3 urban revolution forces conducted an attack using 7 missiles at the junta air force on Thursday night. They also stated that they are getting ready for the attack via enough 107mm grenades at Thingyan celebration in the junta armed forces. 
  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, the junta army fired mortars to the town of Kyonedoe for no apparent reason. Consequently, Pawdawmu Stupa was hit and 4 houses were burnt to ashes. 
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, Dawei District Democratic Committee conducted anti-junta public talks on Friday. 
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, there has been fighting in Shwe Kokko. Consequently, local people ran away to Thailand through the Thaungyin River and the number reached up to over 8,000. 
  • In Yesagyo of Magwe Region, there was a guerrilla attack on the junta army stationing at Nyein Zarni Camp in No. (4) Phaungdaw-U Ward. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers were seriously injured. 
  • In the townships of Western Bago Region, the military junta has been trying various ways to celebrate Thingyan. On the other hand, the PDFs have called on the public not to take part in the junta’s event, just in the revolution Thingyan. 
  • In Phyarpone of Ayeyarwady Region, junta soldiers and police arrested a young resident on 28 March and charged him under the anti-terrorism law. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, the right-hand man of the junta Border Guard Force (BGF) died in the battles at Shwe Kukko. Reportedly, some BGF members gave up their arms. 
  • In Shweku Township of Kachin State, there has been heavy fighting between the junta army and a combined force of Kachin Independence Army (KIA) + PDF. As the junta army conducted air strikes via fighter jets, the houses were burnt down in Tonekauk Village and Sithaung Village. 
  • In Myawaddy Township and Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, 10 military officers officially released a statement that Kawkarait-Myawaddy Road will be closed from 7 to 21 April. 
  • In Myawaddy Township, an alliance of the Lion Battalion and revolution forces attacked and took control of the 5 camps by the junta army and the BGF. Reportedly, 85 junta members died and 75 weapons were confiscated. 

The Military Council 

  • According to the junta Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation, there will be imprisonment from 5 to 10 years against the illegal users of electricity, in addition to a fine. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, the border trade between Thailand and Myanmar reached 5.27 billion USD in 2022-23 fiscal year. 
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar and the junta Minister of Trade and Commerce to promote the implementation of economic cooperation zone projects on the border of China and Myanmar. 
  • The military junta objected to the discussion at the United Nations Human Rights Council about the human rights violations of the junta armed forces, claiming that it is interference in a sovereign country. 
  • According to the junta Diplomat of Labour Affairs in Thailand, they have been providing necessary help to over 1000 Myanmar migrant workers who got dismissed from an electronics factory in Thailand. 

Summary on 7 April 

  • With constant violations of human rights, the military junta has been bare-faced to decline the discussion at the UN Human Rights Council. 
  • In Kayin State, the junta armed forces and the BGF have had a great loss. They even had to take away the bodies of their members in trucks. On the other hand, the local residents of Shwe Kokko Area have had to run to Thailand and they have been in need of emergency help.
