The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 3:30 pm on Monday, there was an official meeting between James Cleverly, the UK Foreign Minister and Daw Zin Mar Aung, the NUG Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the UK Foreign Office in London.
  • The Chair of the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) sent statements of condolences to the Chair of the Turkish National Parliament and the Chair of the Syrian National Parliament following the massive earthquake that hit both countries.
  • On the 76th Shan State Day, the CRPH sent a statement offering its hopes that the people, including ethnic Shan people, will soon be free from the military dictatorship and enjoy a new federally democratic nation.
  • The Acting NUG President invited ethnic Shan and Mon people to join hands for the future of a new nation with federal democracy.
  • The NUG Acting President stated that the NUG and the public have managed to resist the violent activities of the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing for two years. He also claimed that all the people must be determined to proceed till the Spring Revolution is victorious.
  • In an NUG meeting, the NUG Union Prime Minister stated that the military junta made changes by extending the coup period for six more months and declaring military rule in 37 townships. He pointed out that the NUG needs to systematically reflect on such activities.
  • The NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration announced on Monday that it had provided edible oil and money to victims of fires whose villages had been burnt by junta soldiers in Khin-U Township in Sagaing Region in January.
  • The NUG Minister of Defence claimed that it had been trying in various ways to restrict the junta air force, the main threat to the revolution.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The White House announced that the US Government has extended the state of emergency related to Myanmar.
  • The Foreign Minister of Singapore claimed that the crisis in Myanmar has been threatening neighbouring countries more than other ones in the ASEAN region and so, there are concerns in the region.
  • On the Pakkoku-Yesagyo Road Section in Magwe Region, there was an attack on two junta army cars. Reportedly, 10 junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated.
  • In Kachin State, a rally of people from Hpakant marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region, the junta army shot dead two local people near Yange Village for no apparent reason.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of Pyigyi Dagun protested against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, raising a banner that said ‘Fight the end game’.
  • In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of local villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Salingyi Township, the S&C provided fire victims with blankets, mosquito nets, warm clothes, sardines, noodle, tea and medicines.
  • In Taze Township, there were three local battles on Monday alone. Reportedly, no less than 17 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Ayadaw Township, there were bomb attacks from drones on two villages where junta armed forces were stationed.
  • In Salingyi Township, there was an anti-junta protest in memory of the 10 comrades who were burnt to death by the junta army during the revolution.
  • In Yinmabin North, a rally of local people marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • In Kalay Township, there was a mine attack on the junta army near the Government Technological College on Monday morning. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died.
  • MTI Energy, a Canadian oil company, became an investor in the Yadanar Gas Project, which brings a large sum of money to the military junta. Therefore, Justice for Myanmar called on them to stop their business activities as soon as possible and leave the country.
  • In Mawlamyein in Mon State, an alliance of Underground Guerrillas conducted a mine attack on the police housing in Phattan Ward.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) announced that it had rescued 127 Ta’ang people including children, who had been recruited by force for Gyaryan People’s Army under the military junta in Shan State.
  • On the 76th Shan State Day on Tuesday, the Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) celebrated it as Shan National Day at their headquarters.
  • On the Myanmar-Thai border, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) celebrated the 76th Shan National Day in Loikawwang.
  • In their statement on the 76th Shan National Day, the RCSS claimed that the ongoing crisis will only be resolved when the terms in the Panglong Agreement are implemented.
  • On the 76th Shan National Day, the Shan National League for Democracy (SNLD) issued a statement.

The Military Council

  • In Myaung Township and Myinmu Township in Sagaing Region, the military junta declared military rule and tried to set up Pyusawti groups or a so-called People’s Army. According to a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs, they did not get any recruits.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that they had been carrying out activities for the peace and prosperity of the country.
  • The junta leader said that tax rates had been reduced for the import of electric cars and more charging stations would be built for such vehicles on busy roads and in big cities.
  • The junta Ministry of Health stated that it had been cooperating with neighbouring countries including China to promote the Myanmar traditional medicine sector.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Information, the Special Investigation Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs has been calling for people to apply for jobs as junior clerks and accountants.
  • Reportedly, the military junta and Russia have been discussing activities related to a feasibility study for a thermal power station project.
  • According to the junta propaganda media, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing met with the Director General of the ROSATOM State Corporations in the lobby of the Zayyar Thiri Residence in Yangon on Monday.

  • When the NUG was first established, it was not taken seriously. However, it has gained the recognition of the international community because of strong support from the Myanmar people over the last two years.
