The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Women, Youth and Children-NUG announced that at least 265 children had lost their lives due to the killing of the junta army from 1 February 2021 to 31 January 2022.
  • On Friday, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, sent a letter containing the data about the crimes of Myanmar junta army to António Guterres, Secretary General of the UN.
  • At 9:00 am Friday, there was a meeting (1/2023) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Public Administration Teams from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.
  • In accordance with the right to self-defence, the general public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. According to the NUG, 48 members of the junta armed forces died and 19 others were injured on Thursday.

Revolution Activities

  • In Yay of Mon State, there was a mine attack on the junta army contingent on secret patrol. According to Yay Guerrilla Force, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • In Sagaing Region, Youths for Community-Myaung led an anti-junta talk themed - ‘No matter how dark the age is, we will keep moving to the light’ on Saturday.
  • In Myinmu Township, there was an attack with a variety mines on two military trucks between Gwaybindaw Village and Yepoezar Village at 4:35 am Saturday. According to South Monywa PDF, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • According to a focal person of Fire Dragon (KU), they conducted a bomb attack via drone on the junta army on secret patrol on Shwebo-Myitkyina Section of the Union Road.
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myinmu Township, there was a mine attack on the two military trucks between Myinmu and Wanpyay Village at 5:56 am Saturday. According to a focal person of the People’s Army to Fight Dictatorship, 5 junta soldiers died.
  • In Salingyi Township, there was an anti-junta march in memory of the ten comrades who lost their lives a year and a month ago.
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of local villages from Yinmabin North marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township of Bago Region, there was a mine explosion between Thegone Village and Nyaunggone Village at about 8:00 am Saturday while the junta army was doing a mine clearance operation. According to Bago Region PDF, 3 junta soldiers died and 6 others were injured.
  • In Kachin State, a rally of Hpakant Gems Miners marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, a political prisoner lost his life and 9 others were seriously injured due to the brutal treatment of the junta armed forces at Pathein Prison on Friday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • On Saturday, Karen National Union-KNU officially announced that there were 306 battles in the areas under the KNU in Kayin State, Mon State and Taninthayi Region in December 2022. Reportedly, 217 junta soldiers died.
  • In KyarIn Seikgyi Township of Kayin State, Ko Htet Myet Aung, a member of National Revolution Guard-NRG PDF (Salingyi), lost his life in a battle between the junta army and a combined force of KNLA + PDF.

The Military Council

  • In Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, the population data collection has been carried out for every household.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that national economic growth was 8%.
  • The junta leader claimed that the authorities were seeking to bring a normal situation in the country, like that of 2011 and 2016, and more than that if possible.
  • Dr. Thet Khine Win, the junta Health Minister, said that they had been providing medical care to the patients with tuberculosis-TB, HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in prisons.

Summary on 7 January

  • The disqualified junta leader claimed that they were to develop the situation in the country like that of the USDP President U Thein Sein government and more than that if possible. Rather than his own effort, he indecisively ordered his junta people to do so.
  • There have been battles all over the country. In recent days, the defensive war has intensified. At the same time, young members of the People’s Defence Forces have sacrificed their lives for democracy and the end of the military dictatorship. Like the dutiful youth, the general public are to brighten their own corner in the revolution.
