The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Education announced that they had been joining hands with local and international experts to give students whose education had been delayed due to COVID-19 and violence access to learning.
  • In a statement by the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), they stated that this year marked the 60 th anniversary of the bloodshed when the military dictators attacked anti-junta students on 7 July 1962.
  • On Thursday, the Western PDF Headquarters released photos of their commando unit practicing military exercise to fight the junta armed forces which have been destroying and taking away people’s property.
  • On the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising, the NUG expressed its respect for youth and students who have sacrificed their lives for freedom, equality, justice and truth in the fight against bad systems throughout history.

Revolutionary Activities

  • On Thursday, the Monywa-Amyint Strike Committee led a protest against the military dictatorship on the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising.
  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, a combined rally of protesters expressed their objection to the military dictatorship at the entrance of historic Mount Phowin on Thursday, in memory of the 7 th July Uprising.
  • To mark the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising, youth in Tamu marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • Raising the banner in memory of the 7 July Uprising, the Yinmabin Township Students’ Union marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Kani Township, there was an anti-junta movement on Thursday in memory of the 60 th anniversary of 7 July Students’ Uprising.
  • In Ayadaw Township, a rally of the rural community marched on Thursday, holding signs saying ‘Never forget 7.7.62’.
  • On the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising, the Kalay General Strike led a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, there was a clash between the junta armed forces and the Myaing Villages’ Revolution Force (MVRF) on Tuesday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and two others got injured.
  • According to the Myitchay Kyungchaung PDF, they caught a sergeant from the junta army.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, youth and students marched against the military dictatorship in memory of the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising.
  • In Tamway Township in Yangon Region, a combined rally of the General Strike Committees led a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning, raising the banner in memory of the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, Urban Guerrilla conducted an explosion of warning at the house of Than Lwin, a pro-military 100-household leader, at 4:40 am on Thursday.
  • In Thanlyin Township, the junta army shot at a motorbike taxi driver and arrested him.
  • On the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising, the White Tigers Unit (3) carried out an anti-juntaprotest on Thursday.
  • In Taungoo in Bago Region, a combined rally of the students’ union conducted an anti-junta movement with banners- saying ‘Never forget 7.7.62’.
  • In Mandalay Region, the Aungmyay Thazan Township Students’ Union hung an anti-junta banner on the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising.
  • On Thursday, the Mandalay Strike Committee marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship in memory of the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising.
  • On Thursday, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw and Yadanarbone University Students’ Union conducted a Waso-robe offering ceremony in memory of those who had lost their lives in the revolutions against the military dictatorship.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, youths expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Students’ Uprising.
  • According to Justice for Myanmar, the Califonia-based Dacast, a company broadcasting online live events, banned live programs of the junta MRTV.
  • According to the NLD, the junta army arrested U Kyaw Myo Min, Chair of Beelin Township NLD and a Mon State M.P. and killed him. Reportedly, his dead body was found in the drain with his hands tied behind his back.
  • On Wednesday, the Burmese People Liberation Army announced that they had been raising funds with a lucky draw for their piece of land in Shan State.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Matupi Township in Chin State, there were two battles. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • A spokesperson of the SSPP said they would take responsibility the case of the actor Thinzar Wint Kyaw who had been arrested on her way back after making a documentary for local development.
  • In Loikaw Township of Karenni State, there was fighting between the junta army and Karenni combined forces at 6:00 am on Wednesday. Reportedly, junta soldiers shot mortars and conducted air strikes.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta media, 33 students who had passed the 2022 matriculation exam with the highest scores in the country, together with their teachers, went on an excursion trip to Thailand on 4 July, under the guidance of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that there could be a free and fair election only when the voters’ list has been systematically compiled in a timely manner.
  • The junta media claimed that the PDF had robbed 2600 lakh MMK, was the salary for staff at the Myanmar Effort garment factory, in Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region.
  • The junta propaganda media accused PDFs of destroying some schools in Shwekyin Township in Bago Region.
  • The junta spokesperson said that they had just taken away Thinzar Wint Kyaw for questioning when she was on her way back from the Wanhein Are, but they had not arrested her.

Summary on 8 July

  • The military junta, who fraudulently seized power using accusations of electoral fraud, has been arranging another election. They are doing this because the military aligned parties did not win the previous election.
  • Throughout the country, there were anti-junta protests on the 60 th anniversary of the 7 July Uprising in which a large number of young students were ruthlessly killed by the junta armed forces. As for the public, they are determined to fight for liberation from exploitation by the military for more than six decades.
