Spring Revolution Daily News for 8 July 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On the 61st anniversary of the 7 July 1962 students massacre, Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) sent a statement calling for the end of the military dictatorship through truth-loving spirit and strong determination in the Spring Revolution.
  • The NUG announced that they intended to systematically take action against the dictators and accomplices who have oppressed and killed youth and students throughout history with prejudice for no apparent reason.
  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and District People’s Administration.
  • At 12:00 pm Thursday, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG provided conflict management training to Township People’s Administration from Magwe Region.
  • Federal Wings reported to the public that they had been joining hands with international experts for the projects of long-range operation and drone production.
  • At 10:00 am Thursday, the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration conducted their meeting (27/2023).

Revolution activities

  • Burmese Students’ Union announced on Friday that with the 7 July spirits, they would uproot the military government, the military junta and the military dictatorship.
  • In Yangon Region, the revolution forces carried out the 7 July movements at some places starting from Thursday night.
  • In Thaketa Township, youth and students hung a banner- ‘Never forget 7.7.62’ in commemoration of the 61st 7 July Day.
  • On Friday morning, political prisoners held a 7 July event in Insein Prison.
  • On Friday, Hlaingthaya Township Students’ Union and Youth Union conducted a ‘Failed Law Strike’ in front of the local court with corruption.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, the revolution youth carried out the 7 July movement on the 61st anniversary of the 7 July Day.
  • In Yebyu Township, there was an anti-junta movement in Kanbauk Area on Friday morning to mark the 61st anniversary of the 7 July Day.
  • In Kantbalu Township of Sagaing Region, over 60 local people had been arrested by the junta army. Reportedly, some of them were released whereas the remaining ones were still in detention.
  • In Pyi District and Thayarwaddy District of Bago Region, the military junta placed mines near MyTel telecom towers. Regarding it, local PDF warned the public to take caution.
  • On Friday, young people from Pyin Oo Lwin conducted an online photo campaign in commemoration of the 7 July Day.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • The junta peace team met with the delegation of New Mon State Party in Naypyidaw for the second day.
  • On 4 July, Institute of Chin Affairs stated that the military junta had killed a large number of Chin nationals unjustly in the first six months of 2023.

The Military Council

  • In Mon State, the military junta sealed off the office of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Thanphyu Zayat Township on Wednesday.
  • On Thursday, the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner claimed that Myanmar had been going downhill towards deep violence under the ruthless military junta.
  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that they had summoned international diplomats and explained to them about the status quo of the country.
  • According to the junta Patent Department, there have been over 50,000 applicants since the patent rights started on 26 April.
  • The junta Deputy Prime Minister Major General Mya Tun Oo stated that they had been rewriting the necessary information for Myanmar Thanutkha to be listed as the World’s Intangible Heritage.
