The Military Council

  • In a meeting of the military council, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that prices didn’t go up like other countries as the sector of agriculture and livestock was allowed systematically in accordance with the rules in the period of COVID-19 and efforts were made for food production.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they did not turn a blind eye to Myanmar people who were in trouble abroad. They provided help in any possible way if those people ask for help through Myanmar embassies.
  • The junta chief minister of Kachin State met with seasonal fruit growers telling them to do well in business and get access to the market during and after the COVID-19 period.
  • Nay Pyi Taw military council conducted a meeting on the programme of Nay Pyi Taw, capital of Myanmar.
  • According to the junta media, over 1000 people above 18 got vaccinated at the IDP camps in Ann Township of Rakhine State.
  • After the announcement of the NUG to fight against the junta army led by Min Aung Hlaing, the junta armed forces conducted a ritual with offerings near Marketplace on Dama Sedy road in Yangon at about 9:30 am Tuesday.
  • With regard to the defence of the NUG, the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun told the media that there could be attacks with time mines and bomb explosions at public places.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG made an official announcement that the public’s revolution got started from Tuesday to fight against the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing.
  • Duwa Lashi La, Acting President of the NUG, signed an announcement declaring a state of emergency in the whole country until public administration power could be reconstructed.
  • Radio NUG had been broadcasting what the public need to prepare for disasters in conflicts.
  • The NUG issued (7) instructions related to people’s defence forces and special forces.
  • Man Win Khine Than, Union Prime Minister- NUG, announced that a public holiday was starting from Tuesday for an unlimited period as all public departments and offices under the military junta were closed due to the need for abolishing illegitimate military administration.

Revolution Activities

  • People’s Soldiers, led by officer Nyunt Naing and Major 48, would join the public in battles against the military junta.
  • On Tuesday, a rally of women marched against the military dictatorship on Monywa-Amyint road.
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East, led by women, expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Shwebo Township, local residents marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Kalay, a rally of women expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, the junta armed forces raided Donwe village in Kalay Township and set fire to some houses.
  • On Monday evening, the junta armed forces arrested 3 people, including Ko Kyaw Min, environmental and human rights activist, and his younger brother, at their house in Monywa.
  • After the announcement of the NUG to fight against the military dictatorship, a rally of Latbadaung General Strike, led by women, marched with knives on Tuesday.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, a rally of women conducted Rosy Movement and expressed their desire for the end of the military dictatorship on Tuesday afternoon, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, a rally of anti-junta women marched against the military watchdog on Tuesday.
  • In the eastern area of Dawei, a rally of women expressed their desire against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Dawei District, anti-junta women-led Rosy Movement on Tuesday morning and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In South Dagon of Yangon Region, there was a humanless strike on Maungmakan road. On Tuesday afternoon, the junta armed forces cleared it. At that time, two bombs exploded.
  • According to local residents, there was a bomb explosion near a traffic police booth at Bayint Naung junction traffic lights in Mayangone Township at about 10:00 am Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday morning, the public hung a banner at Nga-Htat-Gyi pagoda in Bahan- calling on the junta armed forces to give up their weapons.
  • According to KNIC, the military junta arrested Lieutenant-General Tun Naing Oo, in charge of Loikaw army headquarters, for being careless in military operation as they had a great loss in the battles with Karenni forces in Kayah (Karenni) State. The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun denied it.
  • After the NUG declared a state of emergency in the whole country starting from Tuesday, Mindat Township Public Administration Team made an announcement calling on the public to fight against the military junta in any possible way.
  • In Paung Township of Mon State, young people expressed their desire against the military watchdog on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday, Mawlamyein youth made a protest against the military dictatorship, “We will take back our rights”.
  • Mandalay variety forces announced on Tuesday that there came the day of public’s revolution which all the people had been looking forward to. They would firmly stand with the public in the fight against the military dictatorship.
  • Mandalay-based students’ unions released an emergency statement that they would participate in the frontline of the armed revolution.
  • On Tuesday morning, there were attacks with bomb explosions at 5 junta departments in 4 towns of Magwe Region.
  • According to Baitthanoe PDF, two cable towers of 11 lines were destroyed by a bomb explosion at about 5:30 am Tuesday. They had been for the power supply of the junta weapon factory near Nyaunggone village in Myothit Township.
  • Baitthanoe PDF announced that they had made a second attack with a bomb explosion at the junta army (103) in Taungdwingyi at about 4:30 am Tuesday.
  • People’s Revolutionary Association (PRA) announced on Tuesday that they had carried out activities that would harm the operation of the military junta, including shooting 4 mortars at the junta air force in Magwe.
  • Taunggyi University Students’ Union announced that they, students, would take part in the armed revolution of the public.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • After the NUG declared a state of emergency in the whole country starting from Tuesday, responsible personnel and communication departments of the EAOs like Kachin and Kokangshowed their support for it.
  • Karenni Army Center- Kn.A.C announced that the fighting got started near 6-Mile village on Loikaw-Demawso road as an implementation of Deployment Day.
  • In Loikaw Township of Kayah (Karenni) State, the junta army near Dawposi village fired shells starting from 3:00 pm Tuesday.
  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, the junta armed forces wildly opened fire in Asuchaung village group at about 12:45 am Tuesday. According to KNU, local residents were worried.
  • At about 9:30 am Tuesday, there were exchanges of fire with the junta armed forces invading Taungpyaut in Thayetchaung Township under the influence of the KNU Regiment (4).
  • The junta army told administrators of Muslim villages in Kyauktaw Township not to accept the matter of police training and administration training conducted by the AA.
  • At about 3:00 pm Tuesday, there was fighting between KNDF and the junta armed forces stationing at Dawposi village between Loikaw and Demawso.

Summary on 8th September

  • The NUG called on the public from every corner of the country to fight against the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing starting from Tuesday. After that, the junta armed forces were in chaos in Yangon and doubled security measures. Some anxious people did panic buying and thus the markets were crowded, especially at rice shops, grocery shops, confection shops and pawnbroker shops.
  • Most EAOs supported the announcement of the NUG and said that in cooperation with PDFs, they would fight against the junta army. Moreover, students’ unions all over the country released statements welcoming the resistance war and that they would participate in the frontline of the armed revolution.
  • Mandalay’s various forces, which protested against the military dictatorship every day, said that they would stand firmly before the public in the fight against the military junta as it was the day the whole general public had been looking forward to. Assumingly, there might be only activities of armed revolution instead of public protests.
  • As a whole, the public from all over the country would fight against the military junta in any possible way. Consequently, there might be armed revolution instead of protests.
