The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG announced that it had great concern for the lives of a mother and her 4-year-old child, who were arrested by the junta army in a nursery school. They also called on the international community to take serious action in such cases.
  • According to the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children-NUG, 132 children under the age of 18 have been killed by the junta armed forces until 4 April and 216 others have been in detention until 1 April.
  • In the 11th emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun said that Myanmar had supported the proposal for suspending Russia from being a member of the UN Human Rights Council. He also said that no one should accept the inhumane arrest of a 4-year-old child by the military junta as a hostage.
  • Union Minister of Women, Youth and Children-NUG said that the kidnap of a 4-year-old child by the junta army was a violation against local and international laws as well as a terrorist act.
  • Acting President of the NUG announced that if members of the junta armed forces join the public together with airplanes, helicopters or fighter jets and without any attack on the public, they would be rewarded 500,000 USD or 10,000 lakh MMK.
  • According to Yangon Regional PDF, they managed to conduct attacks on 1182 administration, military and economic targets within 7 months of the Pyan Hlwa Aung Operation.

Revolution Activities

  • In Tantsi Township of Sagaing Region, 3 members of the junta armed forces were attacked with mines on Tantsi-Ye U Road. Reportedly, two of them died and one lost his arm in the blasts.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta army fired mortars into Shautkha Village on Thursday morning. They also set fire to 67 houses. Reportedly, a villager named Ko Shwe Thin was hit with a mortar and lost his life.
  • In Tantsi Township, Phoenix Defense Force – TAZE conducted a mine attack at the junta armed forces on Tantsi-Ye U Road at about 9:00 am Friday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers, including 2 officers, got injured.
  • As a 394-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Pinlebu, local PDF attacked a police station at 11:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, the junta army conducted 3 air strikes on the town on Friday morning.
  • In Monywa, a combined rally of youth and local people in wards marched up to Martyrs’ Road and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • At a crowded market in Salingyi Township, Monywa University Students Union marched against the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Kalay, a junta soldier died in a shooting incident in front of Inwa Bank.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, the junta army raided Myitphya Village at 3:00 pm Friday, firing mortars.
  • In Pauk Township, junta soldiers and Pyusawti members raided Kyaunggone Village at 3:40 pm Thursday, firing ammunition, and setting fire to people’s property.
  • In South Korea, there was a discussion themed - ‘Potential of Myanmar’s democracy movement and the role of CSOs’ on Friday.
  • In Hpakant of Kachin State, local people marched against the military dictatorship. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Hpakant Township, a mortar fell at 9:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 5 jade mine workers were injured and sent to hospital.
  • In Alone Township of Yangon Region, the junta army shot at a mother, accusing her of supporting the PDF. They also violently arrested her 3-year old son. Reportedly, both of them were in critical condition.
  • Yangon Underground Forces announced that they would conduct explosions in the period of the water festival.
  • According to Dagon University Students’ Union, Ma Saung Lay Pyay, a university student aged 20 who had been sentenced to death, did not get access to medical treatment in Insein Prison.
  • In Myawaddy Township, 9 PDF members were arrested and investigated.
  • In Taninthayi Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta army blocked off the streets to Taku Area and Nyaungbingwin Village, starting from 5 April.
  • In Pathein of Ayeyarwaddy Region, 3 political prisoners were each sentenced to 2 years in prison at the junta court on Tuesday morning.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Karenni State, KNDF caught Aung San Lin, a junta soldier who had run away from the Loikaw-based army, and transferred him to Karenni State Police Force.
  • In Loikaw Township, 4 junta soldiers died due to a sniper fire in a battle in Ngwe Taungthit Village.
  • In Nantkam Township of Shan North, there was a clash between Panse Public Army and TNLA near Naung-Ahn Village on Thursday morning. Reportedly, 3 members of Public Army died and 5 others were injured.

The Military Council

  • The junta Central Bank announced that the amount of international payment via Visa card, Master card and UPI/JCB, prepaid, credit card was halved.
  • In Shan East, the military junta is planning to implement Wantapone hydro-power project on Nantlwe River up to Wantapone Village of Kyeintone Township.
  • The junta Ministry of Labour announced that they would keep issuing OWIC from 9 to 12 April during the Thingyan holiday.
  • The military junta announced that they had been planning for compensation to casualties in motor-vehicle accidents.
  • Chair of the junta Myanmar Press Council said that he and other members had conducted discussions at schools and offices, fundamental places for the public to get access to the right news and promote their love for the country.
  • According to the junta media, Maungdaw Township Road Department renovated Htanchaung Bridge, which had been blown up by URSA, on Kyaingchaung-Taungpyo Road in Rakhine State.
  • According to the junta media, there was an event to receive the speech of Bamaw Sayardaw, Chair of National Monks’ Union, at YMBA Office in Yangon on Friday morning.
  • In Pyi of Bago Region, the military junta demanded money from internet service providers for the inclusion of Walking Thingyan in the water festival.

Summary on 8 April

  • The military junta arrested an innocent child aged 4 in a nursery school. It was a violation against child rights and basic human rights. As they did not find his father, they arrested the boy as a hostage. It was just an action of a robbers’ gang, not a so-called national army.
  • The NUG expressed their condemnation against the arrest of the child by the military junta. They have also been making an effort for international lawsuit against it. U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the UN, talked about the violence of the junta army against children in his speech. The NUG pledged that they would follow Article (19) contained in the UN Convention on the Rights of Children.
  • In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, the junta armed forces conducted invasion on land and air. They then set fire to villages and killed local people. In Sagaing Region, they had heavy battles against local PDFs.
