The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Tuesday, the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) sent a statement on the event of the 35th 8888 Democratic Movement Day conducted by the National League for Democracy (NLD) Party.
  • The Committee Representing the Mandalay Hluttaw (CRMH) sent a statement to the event of the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Democratic Movement Day organized by the NLD Party.
  • On the 8888 Democratic Movement Day, the Ministry of Defence- NUG pledged that they would be committed to the downfall of the military dictatorship and the establishment of a federal democratic union.
  • The Committee Representing the Ayeyarwady Hluttaw (CRAH) sent a statement to the event of the 35th 8888 Democratic Movement Day held by the NLD Party.
  • In the event on the 35th 8888 Democratic Movement Day, the Union Prime Minister of the NUG claimed that they would continue to fight the military junta without stepping back.
  • The Committee Representing the Sagaing Hluttaw (CRSH) sent a statement for the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Democratic Movement Day conducted by the NLD Party.

  • In the statement on the event on 35th anniversary of the 8888 Democratic Movement Day, the NUG called for marching together toward the destination of a federal democracy devoid of the dictatorship.
  • On the 35th 8888 Democratic Movement Day, the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw called for the implementation of common goals for the future federal democratic union as soon as possible.
  • On the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Democratic Movement, the Acting President of the NUG called for a continual march toward a federal democratic union while keeping the 8888 spirit.
  • According to the Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risk Management- NUG, there could be heavy rain all across the country, especially in Rakhine State and Chin State on 8 and 9 August. They also warned of the danger of flooding and landslides.

Revolutionary Activities

  • There have been heavy battles throughout the country as the junta armed forces have been invading Shan State, Kachin State, Kayin State, Mon State, Sagaing Region, Magwe Region, Bago Region and Taninthayi Region.
  • In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, there was a battle near Kyayningyi Village on Monday night. Reportedly, about 10 junta soldiers died.
  • In Butalin, PDFs detained 18 people; non-CDM staff and their family members in the junta fire brigade at about 3:00 pm on Monday.
  • On Tuesday, the Monywa-Amyint Community Strike Committee conducted an anti-junta march on the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Movement.
  • On the 35th 8888 Day, a combined rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools carried out a movement against the military dictatorship.
  • In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, a local rally marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Shwebo Township, there were bomb attacks via drones on the junta army and Pyusawti. Reportedly, 5 junta members died.
  • In Khin-U Township, there was a farming strike against the military dictatorship to commemorate the 35th 8888 Day.
  • In the downtown area of Yangon, the Yangon People’s General Strike Committee carried out an anti-junta movement with red umbrellas.
  • Even amidst tight security by the military junta, the Democratic Party for a New Society (DPNS) and Youth for a New Society organised a movement against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • In Kepong of Malaysia, the NLD-OC International (Malaysia) conducted an event on the 35th anniversary of 8888 Day.
  • In Bangkok of Thailand, The Bright Future Society led a movement on the 35th 8888 Day in front of the US Embassy from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday.
  • In Thailand, the Spring Music Band conducted a movement on the 8888 Day.
  • In Magwe Region, a rally of Myaing Township marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday, Pauk Township Students’ Union led an anti-junta march on the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Democratic Movement Day.
  • On the 35th 8888 Day, Southern Magwe PDF carried out a movement.
  • Taninthayi PDFs conducted anti-junta movements on the 35th 8888 Day.
  • In Tokyo, Japan, Revolution Tokyo of Myanmar conducted an umbrella strike and hung an anti-junta banner on the 8888 Democratic Movement Day.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

  • According to a focal person of the Chin National Defence Force, one of their members, detained in Kalay Prison in Sagaing Region, died due to insufficient healthcare.
  • In Chin State, Falam Township People’s Police Force conducted a public meeting and they had an educational talk on the reduction of crimes.

The Military Council

  • In Kyaukme in Northern Shan State, there has been an attack on the administration office in a ward. After that, the military junta declared a curfew in the town.
  • In most townships of Yangon Region, family photos have to be in the overnight guest registration book and the personal information of each member has to be filled in.
  • In Hinthada District of Ayeyarwady Region, over 300 junta members have been blocking off the entrance and exit of local forests.
  • At the time of high criticism, 11 countries including China, Russia and India attended the ASEAN Plus Partners Counter-Terrorism Meeting hosted by Myanmar’s military junta.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary for the ASEAN members to follow the ASEAN Charter and carry out activities in accordance with the ASEAN principles.
  • The junta leader said that the government needs to help with the effective use of the land in agriculture and livestock.
