The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At the meeting of Union Resources Management Team on Monday, Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that necessary procedures were being carried out in the interim administration period to implement the system for people-oriented and sustainable federal resources management.
  • In a meeting with the special envoy of the UN to Myanmar on Monday, Daw Zin Mar Aung, Minister of Foreign Affairs- NUG, mentioned human rights violations caused by the military coup and emergency needs for humanitarian assistance to Myanmar people.
  • According to Ministry of Defence- NUG on Tuesday, there were 96 people’s defensive wars all over the country from 25th to 31st January, killing 327 junta soldiers and leaving 197 others injured.
  • The Ministry of Education - NUG announced that they had been arranging tests and exams for students taking their courses during the period of the revolution.
  • The NUG called on the public to take part in the Profile Campaign commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Panglong Agreement on 12th February.

Revolution Activities

  • In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, a combined force of PRA conducted an attack on a Pyusawti training school in Inmati village on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, 14 Pyusawti members and junta soldiers died.
  • At about 7:00 am Tuesday, a combined force of junta soldiers and Pyusawti members raided Seikkun village in Shwebo Township and conducted arrests.
  • On Tuesday, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta posters.
  • In Ye-U Township, a total of 30 staff members from the administration department and education department resigned.
  • In Mawlu of Indaw Township, U Htike Ko, a follower of the junta, was shot dead by a local guerrilla force at his house on Sunday night.
  • In Monywa, a combined rally of youth and local people conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Martyr’s street on Tuesday.
  • In Kalay Township, a convoy of 6 military trucks was attacked with mines four times on Monday. According to the local PDF, 17 junta soldiers died.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of villages marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Shwepyitha Township of Yangon Region, GZ youth conducted an anti-junta movement at Kaungthonelone stop on Tuesday morning and expressed their anger against the incident in which a young man had been shot dead while hanging a poster at Inya Lake.
  • In Tamway Township, the Burmese Youth Network conducted a bomb attack on a MyTel shop, owned by the military junta, on Tuesday morning.
  • According to Yangon Regional PDF sources, there was a bomb attack at the house of Captain Pyi Phyo Kyaw, an officer of the junta air force, in Ward 54 of South Dagon Township.
  • In Eastern Hlaingthaya, D.R.F carried out an attack at a local police station with a 40 MM launcher at about 7:00 pm Monday.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of Myat Yadanar Private School Students protested against the military dictatorship and put up anti-junta posters on Tuesday.
  • In Wundwin Township, there was a dawn strike in honor of Ko Aung Aung, who had burnt himself to death in a protest against the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally of Mandalay engineers and multi-religious youth carried out an anti-junta movement, hanging a vinyl sign at the bridge near Yadanarbone University on the Yangon-Mandalay highway.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, a car carrying the abbot of Kundaw village monastery was attacked with mines on the Pathein-Monywa road on Monday afternoon.
  • In Hpakant Township, Kachin State, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday. They also expressed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Longlone Township, Taninthayi Region, a rally of women conducted a Rosy movement against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • In Beelin Township, Mon State, a convoy of 7 military trucks was attacked with mines on the Yangon-Mawlamyein road at about 11:00 pm Monday. According to a local guerrilla force, they also fired weapons.
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, the MSRU blew up a bridge on the Yangon-Yay-Dawei railway, used for transportation of the junta army, at about 10:00 am Tuesday.
  • In Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, a car with some junta soldiers was attacked with mines at about 11:00 pm Monday. Reportedly, 2 local people in the car died.
  • According to Justice for Myanmar, 3 local companies; International Gateways Group of Companies Limited (IGG), Myanmar Consultancy Company Limited and Myanmar New Era Trading Company; got involved in weapon and military equipment procurements worth of millions of USD for the military junta.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Loikaw Township, Karenni State, there were 3 battles between the junta army and Karenni Force on 4th and 7th February. According to KNDF on Tuesday, 16 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • On Monday, the CNO/CNDF expressed their deepest sorrow for the death of Salai Latanpi aged 19, who died in a frontline battle in Kalay Township in Sagaing Region.
  • In Kawthule, under the control of the KNU, there were 435 battles in January. According to the KNU Communication Central on Tuesday, about 400 members of the junta armed forces died and over 300 others were injured.
  • The KNU and KNPP announced that they would not attend the peace talks that they were invited to by the military junta.
  • According to the Rakhine-based media, the Northern Alliance made up of 3 EAOs, the AA, TNLA and MNDAA; would not join the peace talk by the military junta.

The Military Council

  • On Tuesday morning, U Mg Mg Ohn, the junta minister of information, and his group carried the flag to be saluted on Union Day from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw.
  • According to the junta ministry of health, cases of COVID-19 infection increased again in the first week of February.
  • U Aung Than Oo, the junta minister of electricity and energy, said on Monday that construction of solar power projects to produce 370 MW of power has started.
  • In Pathein of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta police force and vehicle registration department made new licenses for confiscated motorbikes and sold them.
  • In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, the military junta sealed off the house of police officer Tin Min Tun, who had earlier joined the CDM.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that they had not released detained Australian economics professor Sean Turnell who has been charged under the Secrets Act.

Summary on 9 February

  • Although COVID-19 cases were on the rise again, the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing had been arranging for a grand ceremony of the upcoming Union Day with a gathering of people. They will spend 9 billion MMK for the ceremony at a time of unemployment and high cost of living among the public.
  • As for most EAOs, they do not trust the military junta and would not attend their peace talk. Though they had invited groups to peace talks the junta army continued to conduct violent activities.
  • The Myanmar people’s armed revolution has made progress and is causing a great loss for the military junta in all sectors. This momentum will lead to more revolutionary activities.
