The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ko Zin Aung, the Commander of Shwebo District PDF under the NUG Ministry of Defence, was shot dead by the junta army whilst carrying out reconnaissance for an attack.
  • On the first anniversary of the formation of Nay Pyi Taw PDF Regiment (804) under the Mid Military Region, there was a march and military performance on Tuesday.
  • In Mawlight Township in Sagaing Region, a representative of local humanitarian assistance and disaster risks management associations and local defence force provided 40 bags of rice to IDPs and family members of comrades who had lost their lives in the revolution.
  • In Pale Township, the local public administration provided assistance to IDPs whose villages had been burnt down by the junta armed forces.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Yangon, a rally of the Basic Education Students’ Union marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, raising a banner against the junta’s election.
  • Despite junta armed forces patrols, there was an anti-junta movement on Kyimyindine Road, where the words- ‘Except for the ties, there is nothing else to lose’, were spray painted on a wall.
  • In Salingyi Township in Sagaing Region, S&C donated medicines, blankets, mosquito nets, warm clothes and food items to 128 households from three local villages that had been burnt by the junta armed forces.
  • In Shwebo Township, the junta army repeatedly set fire to people’s houses in Hsin-In Village. Reportedly, over 1,200 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • On Wednesday, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In cooperation with Myaung Youth Network, a combined rally of the Monywa Strike Committee, the Monywa-Amyint Roadside Rural Community and the Chaung-U Township Youth Committee marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Ngazun Township in Mandalay Region, there was a mine attack on a military car. According to Myitnge PDF, a captain from the junta army died.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the area under Karen National Union- KNU Brigade (6) in Kayin State, the Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO) issued a warning that the public was not to use the Wawlay-Htikapale Road at all.
  • In Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, there was a battle between the junta army and CDF. According to CDF KKG, a military officer died.
  • In Ye Township in Mon State, Ko Win Htut, allegedly a junta informer in Kyonelong Village, was killed. His family reported the killing to KNU Brigade (6) Regiment (16) on Tuesday.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that the five pairs of 60KW EV chargers and two pairs of 200KW chargers have been imported from China for electrical vehicles.
  • A spokesperson for the junta’s Sagaing Regional Government said that curfews have been put in place in the 37 townships that have been put under martial law in the Sagaing, Magwe and Bago regions and Chin State.
  • The military junta said that it had collected data from 86.7% of households in its population survey that it has been carrying out for 20 days.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that the national economy will improve, the cost of living will become cheaper and it will be easier for people to make ends meet.
  • The junta Aungbale Lottery Department announced that it had increased its sales in January and had taken hundreds of millions of MMK.

Summary on 9 February

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing does not understand anything at all about the national economy, let alone the development of the country. He just keeps saying nonsense.
  • To cover up its lack of control, the military junta declared martial law and curfews in 37 townships. Whatever they do, it makes no difference to the residents.
