The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In cooperation with Revolution Tokyo Myanmar (R.T.M), the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children-NUG has been conducting a lucky draw to raise funds for the women with various hardships at IDP camps in the rainy season.
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG questioned ASEAN as to what extent they would tolerate the military junta defaming the leaders of ASEAN.
  • The Internal Revenue Department-NUG stated that they had been proudly recording individuals and businesses for paying taxes in the revolution period.
  • Union Minister of Labour-NUG said that the military junta and the junta armed forces would soon collapse under the response of the public over the period of the Spring Revolution.
  • The Interim Chin National Consultative Council-ICNCC expressed their condemnation against the junta army for having shot dead a disabled woman in Phalan Township of Chin State.

Revolution Activities

  • In Mandalay, Thwethaught Group killed a young man in front of a school and placed their badge on the dead body.
  • On Friday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, a local guerrilla force raided a drug gang on 5 July and burnt confiscated drugs.
  • According to Burmese Students Union, Ko Soe Thura Kyaw or Poet Thasha, former Chair of Yangon University of Education, was sentenced to 8 years in prison under Section 52 (a) and 505 (a) on 27 June.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a combined rally of Lonekhine Group marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • Mg Kaung Nyein, a soldier from the junta army (384) in Maiphyat of Shan State, joined Tagaung PDF.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, the junta army set fire to Saiphyu Village at about 11:00 am Friday without any battles there.
  • In Ywesagyo Township, the junta army arrested and shot dead Ko Win Naing Tun from Gwaybone Village at about 7:00 pm on 4 July.
  • In Pakkoku Township, the junta army set fire to Shadu Village at 8:00 am Friday without any battles there. Reportedly, the whole village was burnt to ashes.
  • In Sagaing Region, a military convoy was attacked with mines four times by local PDFs on Shwebo-Wetlet road section on Thursday. Reportedly, many junta soldiers, including an officer, were injured.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shweyegyi with Victory conducted a farming strike against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of villages from Yinmabin and Salingyi marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, raising a banner for public’s participation in the revolution.
  • In Bago Region, UG – CPDF placed an anti-junta banner in the compound of Bago Moat near the junta army on the 60 th anniversary of 7 th July Uprising on Thursday.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, 5 CDM teachers have been teaching 200 children at an IDP camp starting from July. Reportedly, they have been in need.
  • In Yangon Region, North Dagon Myothit Township Students’ Union placed a banner-‘Myanmar’s history starts with students’ uprising’ at the education office.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • There was a fighting between the junta army regiment (44) and Cobra Troop comprising KNLA and PDF. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers, including a captain, died and a lot of weapons were confiscated.
  • In Mone Township under the control of Karen National Union-KNU, junta soldiers have been breaking into the houses of local people who have had to run away due to battles.
  • On 4 and 6 July, Karenni combined forces attacked the junta armed forces in Pekone Township of Shan South, Loikaw and Dimawso townships in Karenni State. According to Karenni National Defence Force on Friday, no less than 49 junta soldiers, including officers, died. As for local defence forces, they lost 11 members.

The Military Council

  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that he felt shocked about the incident in which the former Prime Minister of Japan had been assassinated by shooting.
  • On Friday morning, there was a prize giving ceremony for the athletes who had won in the 31 st SEA Games and state and regional sports events.
  • In Hleku Township of Yangon Region, there was an event on completion of clerk training Batch (88) on the grounds of National Service University (Lower Myanmar).
  • According to Myanmar’s Economic Bank, they have increased the number of cash counters for the convenience of retired people in their pension withdrawal starting from July.
  • The junta army donated back the ruby of 2789.25 carats, which had been given by an anonymous young person, to the State.
  • In Myitkyina of Kachin State, the junta army sealed off the house of lawyer U Tin Tun Thein in Tatgone Ward on Friday morning.
  • Reportedly, 2022 Waso-robe offering ceremony was held at the religious hall in the pagoda compound in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Present on the occasion were the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and his wife. 
  • The junta Ministry of Planning and Finance announced that they had not had any plan yet for the auction sale of the cars seized as public’s property.

Summary on 8 July

  • In Kayin, Karenni and Chin, there have been ongoing battles between the junta army and EAOs/ PDFs. With a great loss, the junta army has been conducting air strikes there.
  • In Sagaing and Magwe, junta soldiers and Pyusawti members, who have been silent for a time, have been burning local villages again. Without any battles, they have been setting fire to the whole villages in Yesagyo and Pakkoku townships of Magwe Region. In Ye-U of Sagaing Region, the junta army even had to use military helicopters in their attacks.
