Spring Revolution Daily News for 9 July 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • The focal person of Military Operation in Yangon Region under People’s Defence Force (PDFs) claimed that they had been trying their best to regain control of Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw. He added that the comrades had been in the highest spirits. 
  • Ministry of Human Rights-NUG welcomed the report by the Special Advisor of Myanmar’s Human Rights submitted to the 53rd United Nations Human Rights Council Conference and their latest statements. 
  • Royal Peacock Column went to local villages in Bago Region and met with the public. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In the upcoming meeting, the US Foreign Minister would reportedly call on Southeast Asian Nations to take serious action against Myanmar’s military junta and protest against the activities of China in the South China Sea. 
  • The United Nations Human Rights Commissioner stated that no less than 40 rescue workers had lost their lives and 200 others had been arrested since the military coup in Myanmar in 2021. 
  • On behalf of Helping Hands, the focal person of the Rural Land provided food items to the displaced people in Demoso Township of Karenni State. 
  • In Japan, there would be performance by the revolution artists along with the sale of Myanmar traditional food on Sunday. 
  • In Eastern Wetlet Township of Sagaing Region, the dead body of a man was found between Shwe Nyaungtaw Village and Min Village. Reportedly, he had been killed by the junta army. 
  • In Monywa, there was an attack on a junta’s vessel. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died. 
  • On Saturday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Khin-U Township, there was a mine attack on a junta army troop. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Kantbalu Township, around 300 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members raided and burned Koemyo Village and Supoatgone Village. 
  • In Salingyi Township, a local PDF attacked a junta vessel carrying rations along Chindwin River. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • The spokesperson of New Mon State Party (NMSP) claimed that they would watch the junta’s peace conference which would be held by the end of 2023. 
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, a combined force of KNLA and PDF blew up a bridge on the way up Kyaiktiyo Pagoda at 3:00 pm Thursday. 
  • In Mindat Township of Chin State, Local People’s Administration announced on 30 June that the trade of rare orchids grown on high trees would not be allowed at all. 
  • In Thatone Township of Mon State, the junta army shot mortars into Shwe Yaungpya Village. Reportedly, 6 people including 2 children were injured and 3 houses were damaged. 

The Military Council 

  • Ko Kant Linn Naing, the Vice Chair of Bago Region Students’ Union, had been detained in Kyaiksakaw Prison of Dike-U Township in Bago Region. Reportedly, he lost his life after he had been taken out by the junta army. 
  • U Kyaw Min Swe, a news journalist, had been arrested for writing a post on social media about his sorrow related to the bomb attack on Pazigyi Village. Reportedly, he was released on Friday. 
  • In Bago Region, the Assistant Director of Dike-U Prison and 6 staff members were arrested and sued by the military junta under the accusation of having contact with the PDFs. 
  • The Chair of the junta Central Bank stated that it was necessary to review the activities and international financial transactions by the NGOs and the INGOs systematically in accordance with the laws and procedures. 
  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement with strong objection to the discussion on Myanmar’s human rights at the United Nations Human Rights Council and the points presented by the reporter. 

Summary on 9 July 

  • The military junta has taken out the political prisoners and killed them frequently. They have been violating human rights terribly and committing war crimes. 
  • In Mon State, the junta armed forces have been burning local villages and killing people. However, Mon-based New Mon State Party is hoping for peace from the military junta. In other words, they have been abusing the trust of the public for their own self-interest.
