The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Union Prime Minister said that it was disheartening to hear the news about the loss of heroes, the arrests of innocent villagers and villages on fire so, the revolution must be ended quickly. He also said that the best solution was to put an end to the junta as soon as possible and he did believe that such a time was getting near.
  • The NUG Union Prime Minister went to the frontline of a battlefield and met with PDFs. He said thanks to those young people as well as CDM staff for their bravery and sacrifices.
  • The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) stated that the military junta was violating international law by sentencing Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zayyar Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung and Ko Aung Thura Zaw to be executed.
  • The NUG Minister of Human Rights said that it was not possible to stop local movements so that international community should put pressure on the military junta. He also said that there would be no international action without local activities.
  • According to the Chin Relief Funding program, applications can be made to be agents for the sale of NUG Bond For Chin to raise the pace of the revolution there.
  • In cooperation with the allies, the NUG Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Natural Disaster Risks Management has been providing support to those who have had to leave home due to attacks by the junta armed forces.
  • The Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) expressed its condemnation against all the lawless activities of the illegitimate military government.
  • According to a high-ranking official of the United States, the U.S made a decision to build a relationship with the NUG. Before his trip to Southeast Asia, he also called on ASEAN to do the same.

Revolutionary Activities

  • At Hpa An Prison in Kayin State, prison authorities forced political prisoners to stay together with other criminals. Reportedly, there was a violent crackdown on the protest in there and no less than 60 political prisoners were seriously injured.
  • In Pakkoku Township in Magwe Region, an alliance of PDFs attacked Kyattoe Police Camp on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, no less than 20 junta soldiers, police members and Pyusawti members died.
  • In Seikphyu Township, a combined force of local PDFs conducted an attack at the junta army stationed in Tammakaut Village on Tuesday afternoon. Reportedly, 10 junta soldiers died and a machine gun was confiscated.
  • On the Pale to Gangaw Road, a local PDF caught Htet Myet Soe, a junta soldier pretending to be a monk, while he was searching for mines.
  • In Myaung Township of in Sagaing Region, local PDFs attacked the junta army setting fire to local villages. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army set fire to Alekone Village on Wednesday afternoon.
  • On the 454 th day of protest, a powerful rally from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Salingyi and Yinmabin, local people conducted an event in memory of local revolutionaries who had been burnt to death by the junta armed forces on 7 December 2021.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army shot mortars randomly and set fire to Zawchaung Village on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, a civilian from a nearby village was hit with a mortar and lost one of his legs.
  • In Chaung-U Township, the junta armed forces stationing in Kangyigone Village arrested and killed two PDF members and six local people at about 7:00 am Tuesday.
  • In Taze Township, a local PDF announced via social media on Wednesday that they would not take responsibility for the security of the junta staff who collect taxes in the area.
  • According to Bullet Hla Swe- a former USDP MP, all the USDP MPs are afraid to even go to a tea shop and they all are lying low for the time being.
  • In Thayetchaung Township in Tanintharyi Region, local people conducted a motorbike strike against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • Since 2014, the Norway-based Telenor Group has been making investments in Myanmar. After the military coup, they transferred Telenor Myanmar to a new owner. Reportedly, a large number of employees have resigned.
  • In Kunchangone Township in Yangon Region, the junta army demanded that two people per street accompanied them as human shields in their patrol.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • On the way from Loikaw to Mobye, a troop of 100 junta soldiers was attacked by a Karenni combined force near Nyaungwine Ward. Reportedly, no less than ten of them died and many others were injured.
  • In Mone Township under the control of the Karen National Union (KNU), there have been self-help schools in 13 villages. 
  • In Thaton District in Mon State, the management committee of KNU Brigade (1), stated that they were about to carry out strategic offensive attacks as well as defensive ones.
  • In Taungoo District under KNU Brigade (2), a combined force of the KNLA shot at the junta army camps via snipers. Reportedly, about 18 junta soldiers died from 4 to 6 June.

The Military Council

  • According to Indian sources, India will not invite the junta foreign minister to the India-ASEAN ministerial meeting of foreign affairs, which is being held next week.
  • According to the junta media, there was a meeting at a Naypyitaw council office for the import and supply of Urea fertilizer in a timely manner with reasonable prices in the area.
  • The junta propaganda team stated that the deadline had been extended to 14 June for the CDM staff of basic education to voluntarily resume their work.
  • According to Nikkei Asia, arrangements are being made for foreign companies operating in the country to be exempted from the junta Central Bank regulations on foreign currency exchange that says all foreign currency must be converted into kyats within 24 hours of it being received.
  • In Myaungmya Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta municipal department announced that all the shops, including restaurants, grocery and construction material shops, were to have CCTV installed.
  • According to the junta municipal department, water-absorbing machines have been installed at river exits to prevent floods in Yangon during the rainy season.
  • According to the junta media, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka gave his credential to the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing in Naypyitaw on Tuesday. Reportedly, they discussed the matter of Myanmar’s assistance to Sri Lanka.
  • On Wednesday, Pyinmana Township Electricity Department threatened that meter boxes would be removed from houses that had not paid their electricity bills and that legal action would be taken at the respective police stations.

Summary on 9 June

  • The news came out that India would not invite the military junta to the ASEAN meeting which they had been hoping to be invited to. As a consequence of their don’t-care attitude, they have not been recognized in international diplomatic community. The junta leader welcomed the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, a country suffering a major economic crisis, and said that Myanmar would provide help. As a matter of fact, both nations have been in the same boat.
  • In upcountry areas like Sagaing and Magwe, revolutionary forces have been taking control of the junta army camps one after another. As for the military junta, they have had great losses there. In Karenni and Kayin states, local forces have started carrying out offensive actions as well as defensive ones. In Thaton District, the KNU officially stated that they would carry out actions so, there might be fighting in the area over the next few days.
