Spring Revolution Daily News for 9 October 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun called on the United Nations Security Council to stop violent activities of the military junta on the public and get started with the process for justice. 
  • In the press conference on Friday, the NUG stated that the military junta had been spreading propaganda news to defame those who had deserted the junta armed forces and joined the public. 
  • The NUG claimed that despite the effort of the military junta for the upcoming election, they were not in a legitimate position to do so and they did not have real influence. 
  • Minister U Htin Lin Aung said that although they did not have enough defence system to protect every area from air strikes of the junta army, they had such weapons in some areas and they would shoot down the junta fighter jets there.
  • Dr. Sasa, Union Minister of the NUG, called on Wa ethnic people to fight against the junta army so that the Military Council could not control an inch of the country. 
  • The NUG stated that together with a variety of invasive attacks, there would be a year of war to end the military dictatorship. 
  • At 7:00 pm Friday, there was an online meeting between the Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG. 
  • On Friday, the NUG announced that they had been preparing for the transformation period. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Tada-U Township of Mandalay Region, three fully-armed members of the junta air defence force are missing. Reportedly, junta armed forces have been combing local villages. 
  • In Myaung Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army set fire to Nyaungkayar Village on Saturday morning. 
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta armed forces dropped bombs on Ngarpanchaung Village using 2 fighter jets and 4 military helicopters. 
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta armed forces set fire to Zawchaung Village. Consequently, 42 houses were burnt to ashes. 
  • In the west of Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of 4 local villages marched for the end of the military dictatorship. 
  • In Buthidaung of Rakhine State, U Shaekul, respected by most Rohingya people, was shot dead on the way back after feeding his domestic animals. 
  • In the town of Minbya, the junta army arrested 4 civilians, including the administrator of Okkabyan Ward, at about 5:00 am Saturday. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • According to the Arakan Army-AA on Saturday, they had battles against the junta armed forces in the first week of October and there were casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In the area under the control of the Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (6), there were clashes with the junta army. According to Cobra Troop on Friday, some junta soldiers ran away and left property they had stolen from the public. 

The Military Council 

  • The military junta are organizing the Thadingyut Festival around Mandalay Moat. Reportedly, they have invited the public to take part in it. 
  • In Matupi of Chin State, the streets and roads into and out of the town had been blocked off by the junta army since 25 September. Reportedly, they were reopened on Saturday. 
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that One Region One Product must be implemented in local areas with main products. 
  • On Friday, the junta Central Bank of Myanmar stated that they would give interest for the excess amount of reserve cash in Myanmar Kyat from banks. 
  • The junta leader said that despite the relief for the deadline to some extent, borrowers must repay national loans at a later time. 

Summary on 8 October 

  • The NUG declared that they had set a year for the end of the war against the junta army through various attacks. Consequently, there might be heavier fighting all over the country. 
  • In every battlefield, the junta armed forces have faced a great loss. After many casualties of many junta soldiers in the battles against the AA, the junta began to arrest local people. 
  • The junta armed forces have been committing robbery throughout the country. Reportedly, Cobra Troop managed to confiscate the goldware stolen by junta soldiers from the public. That’s why the people see the whole junta army as the one with bad propensity.
