Yangon Region

  • After a fire at the basic education primary school in Sein Shwe Gon village of Hmawbi Township on 14th June, more than 40 local people had been arrested for investigation. Among them, a pregnant woman had been beaten with the excuse of finding photos during the strike on her phone and she had a miscarriage. Since the fire, there have been inspections of the overnight guest list in the village. Families with children have been asked whether the children are sent to school or not. If not, the parents of those children have been beaten.
  • At 11:10 pm, giving the excuse of checking the overnight guest list, the junta armed forces came to the house of U Myo Aung, the coach of Yangon United Football Academy, in Hlaingthaya Township and arrested him. The reason for the arrest is still unknown.
  • At about midnight Saturday, the junta armed forces shot at 2 young people on Sarpho Thachan street in Ngahtatgyi South Ward of Bahan Township. A 13-year old boy named Maung Pho Sein was shot in the back and died. The armed forces took away his body and arrested another young man.
  • On Sunday morning, there were fires at 3 chain stores of One-Stop Mart in Yangon, on 39th street in Kyauktada Township, on Pho Sein street in Tarmwe Township and in Mingala Taung Nyunt Township respectively.
  • Young people from North Okkalapa Township and East Dagon Township expressed their support for the NUG government and their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In North Okkalapa and Mayangon townships, the youth distributed anti-junta movement journals named “Federal Dawn”.
  • Holding the clothing signboards with anti-junta slogans, Thuwunna youth from Thingangyun Township expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • There was a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship with the signboards of anti-junta slogans by the youth in Shwe Pyi Tha, a township where military rule has been declared.
  • At about 1:55 pm, a black packet had been dropped on the way to downtown areas beyond Gamone Pwint shopping centre on Gabar Aye pagoda road in Mayangon Township. Reportedly, the junta armed forces did not allow any cars to pass through and cleared them away.
  • After five months of the military coup, Han Mauk (Myanmar) garment factory in Hlaingthaya has closed down. It managed to operate even in the COVID period. There were between 800 and 1000 workers in that factory.
  • Regarding the birthday celebration of Daw Aung San Su Kyi at the traffic lights of Maydawi crossroad in North Okkalapa Township where military rule has been declared, the junta armed forces arrested 5 sellers and a motorbike taxi driver near the crossroads. They were released on Sunday morning.
  • People Supply Force (Mingaladon) was established on Sunday to help in the fight against the military dictatorship, together with the PDFs in Mingaladon Township.

Mandalay Region

  • On the night of 18th June, U Thein Tun, the junta-appointed administrator of Yone Sigyi village in Taungtha, was shot dead at close range by the Taungtha youth guerrilla force (TTA). As an informer about those in the anti-junta movement, he had been helping in conducting arrests.
  • The junta armed forces arrived at the Lawkahita charity group in the western part of Moegok the previous day. They said that they wanted to know the list of the injured during the crackdown on the protest on 27th March. They then arrested a group member Ko Kyaw Tu. They also gave the same reason and made investigations at the Parami social help group in the western part of the town.
  • The education rally of Aungmye Thazan schools took to the streets on Sunday morning and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • The rally of the Aung Pinle general strike took to the streets at noon Sunday and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • Amidst the arrests of the junta pretending to be civilians, the Myataung rally protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On the way back from their farms, the farmers in Madaya Township expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, raising the spring revolution flags with three-finger images.
  • Regarding the case in which a traffic policeman was shot dead on Bogyoke road in Myingyan on 18th June, a family of 3- husband, wife and their son, were arrested on suspicion due to the report of the wife of that policeman. The family was said to have argued with the policeman.
  • According to Myingyan Public Movement Committee, the junta armed forces came into Myothit from the north of Myingyan at about 3:20 pm Sunday. In one of their 6 small cars, 6 people were assumed to have been arrested and their faces were covered with an outer garment.

Bago Region

  • At the high school of Nyaungbintha village in Phyu Township, 4 teachers, 13 female students and 9 male students tested COVID-19 positive.

Ayeyarwady Region

  • The junta has announced that COVID-19 test booths will be reopened at the entrance to Ayeyarwady Region.

Sagaing Region

  • During the curfew hour Saturday night, the junta armed forces surrounded a house in Inyagone Ward of Kalay with 5 cars and opened fire. Reportedly, three men died and so did a woman. Another woman got injured in the eye. The armed forces took away the car and other things from that house. The dead people were U Win Zaw Oo, Daw San San Maw, Ko Thi Aung (23 years) and Ko Zaw Zaw (35 years). It is still unknown why they have been shot dead. In addition, At about 2:00 am Sunday, a 12-year old young man from Ayeyarwady tea shop in Chan Myay Aungsi Ward, a 15-year old young man named Mg Kyaw Min Kant Maung from Bein Ward and a staff member of Myanmar Economic Bank- Ko Aung Myat Moe were arrested. At noon, the family in Bein Ward was informed to come and bring the lifeless body of Mg Kyaw Min Kant Maung (15 years). Regarding the young man from the tea shop, his family was informed that he would be released if his elder brother came to get arrested. Despite the shootings till death at night and in the early morning, the junta armed forces have not tightened security till the evening, according to the confirmation of a Kalay local.
  • At about 5:30 pm the previous day, three young members of Thagaung exemplary charity group from Yezagyo Township of Magwe Region were killed near Thanutgone village in Myaung Township.
  • Despite the deaths from shootings on Saturday night, young residents of Kalay went around the town and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday evening, the junta armed forces raided Migyaung Dwin village in Kani Township and opened fire. A man named U Sein Min died there. Reportedly, the armed forces placed a Tumi gun beside his body and took some photos. At night, the junta told lies in their announcement that the security forces were attacked with Tumi guns and hand-made mines, the windshield of a vehicle was damaged and a lifeless body of a man was caught together with a Tumi gun and two unexploded mines.
  • After raiding villages, destroying houses and robbing things in Kani Township, the junta armed forces returned to Minkin. On their way, they were attacked by the local PDFs at about 1:00 pm. Details about the fighting remain unknown.
  • At about 2:00 pm Saturday, there was fighting between the junta armed forces and local PDF at Mutai stream bridge between Thagada and Myindaung villages in Khin-U Township. The junta announced that 2 PDF members had died and another five had been arrested.
  • In Yinmarbin District, hundreds of villagers from Salingyi North and Yinmarbin East got together and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • Monywa General Strike made a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship, even on Martyrs Road where there tend to be barricades by the junta armed forces.
  • In Sipa village of Butalin, a rally comprising hundreds of villagers, led by the monks, expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • While working on farms, the farmers in Zeegone of Kantbalu Township got together and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

Magwe Region

  • Yaw Defense Force (YDF) announced they were not responsible for the deaths of two people in Bawpyin village of Gantgaw District and said that there were Pyusawhtee members of the junta as well.

Tanintharyi Region

  • Amidst the heavy rain, Nyinmaw villagers in Longlone Township conducted a rally against the military dictatorship. The public from Lower Yebyu village expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • The rally of Longlone Township General Strike went round the town in the afternoon and expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • Dawei General Strike, together with Youth Affairs rally, protested against the military dictatorship.
  • Dawei Variety Forces took to the streets in the afternoon and expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.

Kachin State

  • An unknown armed group had arrested Sai Myo Min Tun, Shanni People Army leader in Namya village of Karmai in Pha-Kant Township, on 11th June. According to Shan Ethnic Affairs Organization, he was killed on 17th June and arrested by regiment (44) under KIA Army (9). However, there was no response from KIA about that.
  • The residents of Tarmakan Myothit in Pha-Kant Township take to the streets every day without fail and express their disapproval of the military dictatorship.

Kayar State

  • A body was found near Batdalin village in Dimawso Township. It was difficult to be identified as it had gone bad. The local people cremated it. According to PKPF, the number of residents, who were killed after the military coup, has reached up to 64.

Kayin State

  • At about 11:00 pm Saturday, General Saw Gyaw Phyu, the 70-year-old commander of Kayin National Liberation Army- KNLA (7), passed away. He was the younger brother of Major General Saw Jony, Commander in Chief of KNLA.

Chin State

  • The five Chin ethnic men, who had been arrested after a bomb explosion in Palatwa, were sent to Sittwe. Reportedly, they were charged with Section (505-a). They are Ko Ike Min, Ike Tun Min, Ike Tun Minn (Forestry), Ko Aung Tun Soe or Ahlu and U Yar Kyaw, director of Ahgabi Social Development Foundation.
  • In Mindat where the military rule has been declared, the military administration agreed to a 14-day ceasefire through the negotiations of community leaders so that IDPs could return home.
  • About 90% of the staff members in Mindat General Hospital have joined the CDM. The local military administration has been carrying out cleaning activities to reopen the hospital.

Mon State

  • At about 8:00 pm Saturday, there was a bomb explosion at the middle school in Kanin Kamauk village of Yay Township. No damage was reported due to the explosion. The school has been opening since the first week of June.
  • So far, there have been 21 COVID-19 positive people at Mawlamyein University. Mawlamyein University Teachers’ Union criticized the concealing of the news.

Shan State

  • At about 10:30 pm Saturday, the junta armed forces came to Thazin (3) street in Kyaunggyisu Ward of Taunggyi with 2 cars, climbed over the brick fence, raided the house and arrested a man named Ko Thant Sin Tun. Enquiries are being made for this reason.
  • In Taunggyi, armed forces have been conducting arrests by pretending to be civilians. On Sunday morning, they beat and arrested a man near Taunggyi University and a 16-year old young man near Natcingone.
  • At about 9:00 pm Saturday, there was an explosion near BEHS (1) in Nyaung Shwe. No injury was reported.
  • At about 10:00 am Sunday, SSPP entered a poppy-use camp, which was strongly built at a reservoir near Naywunni IDP camp in Namkham. They set it on fire and arrested 19 poppy-sellers.

Rakhine State

  • Two staff members of Maungtaw District administration office tested COVID-19 positive.
  • The traders at the Rakhine border trade camp are being prioritized for COVID-19 vaccines. After them, education staff members will be the second priority.

Nay Pyi Taw

  • The military junta responded the decision of the UN not to sell weapons has affected the nation’s sovereignty and interfered with internal affairs.
  • On World Refugees Day the Ministry of Human Rights (NUG) called for the international community to take action against the military junta. Moreover, they requested the neighbouring countries to temporarily accept Myanmar refugees who have fled from the violence of the military.

Summary on 20th June

  • In Yangon, there were still guerrilla protests against the military dictatorship. The military has been taking security measures with patrols all over the city and especially in Hlaingthaya, Insein, Tarmwe, Hlaing, Kamayut and Kyimyindine.
  • In Mandalay, the public strikes continued to take to the streets. In Moegok and Myingyin which became silent due to oppressions, the military has constantly been conducting arrests, with the help of informers.
  • In Kalay where there was almost no defence with weapons, the junta armed forces made shootings in the house and killed 4 local people. Moreover, the young man, who had been arrested at 2:00 am died under investigation within half of a day. Besides this, the junta armed forces have been raiding villages in Sagaing, Minkin and Kani townships, destroying houses, robbing things and killing people.
  • In cities and villages of other states and regions, there were still public rallies comprising thousands of protesters.
  • With almost no international pressure, the military junta has been conducting activities for the operation of administration in the country. They have been raising security measures at the junta pillar offices in cities. Instead of the economic fall of the country after the coup, they have been focusing on their stability by allowing investment activities in ethnic regions. With the use of informers, they have also been conducting arrests related to the anti-junta movements.
