Three bombs explode near to Insein Prison

Three bombs exploded close to Yangon’s Insein Prison, at 8:00 p.m. on 23 May, according to the Union of Myanmar Civil Defense (UMCD) group.

The bombs were detonated by the UMCD to show solidarity with all of its comrades and those detained because of their participation in the Spring Revolution and as a final warning to prison staff who torture inmates, according to a UMCD representative.

A total of 10,653 people had been detained since the coup on 1 February 2021 and 23 May 2022, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
