The KNU said in a statement on 29 August that clashes occurred between the Karen National Union (KNU) troops and Tatmadaw, three troops of the latter were killed.

A 15-minute battle broke out between Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 1 and Tatmadaw in Ta Kaung Bo village tract, Hpa-an Township, Thaton District).

Three Tatmadaw were reportedly killed and the KNU announced there were no casualties on their side.
