Two men arrested with weapons on Ayeyarwady’s Higyi Island

According to the informants who are working for a local People’s Defence Force, two men have been arrested with weapons by the Military Council near Kyarkan village, Haigyi Island, Nga Pu Taw Township, Ayeyarwady region.

On the evening of 24 May, two men were arrested and a motor boat with weapons was seized by the military near Kyarkan village.

“Two men and a boat were seized, and junta soldiers are interrogating them. The boat also contains weapons. No more people were arrested from the boat. The junta kept this information covered up and they are working secretly to find other people related to the two men, so be careful,” the informant told the local PDF in Higyi Island on Thursday.

Military Council were reportedly ambushed near Kyarkan village.

A source close to the Military Council’s administration told Mizzima that it was not clear what happened first.

“A lot of junta soldiers and police were searching everywhere in Kyarkan village. They did not arrest the villagers. I heard that they seized two men and weapons in the village. But we have not confirmed whether the two men are PDF or not. The military soldiers were also ambushed along the Mawtin-Pathein road,” the source said.
