Two soldiers died and another two were injured when a Myanmar junta military vehicle was attacked in Mon State’s Ye Township at about 8:15 a.m. on 27 December.

The vehicle, from the 591st Infantry Battalion based in Ye Township, was attacked with small arms fire by members of the Yebilu Force People’s Defence force (PDF) as it entered Kyaung Village in Ye Township.

The vehicle was carrying five junta soldiers, three soldiers in the front seats and two soldiers in the rear seats, according to a Yebilu Force representative.

He said: “Although we were able to kill two junta soldiers as part of our mission, we didn’t confiscate any weapons and we didn’t completely destroy the vehicle.”

He added that the PDF will continue carrying out missions in Mon State and that they will be more successful in the future.
