Two Pyu Saw Htee militia members were killed and three others were injured when they were attacked by a coalition of local defence forces in Tanintharyi’s Myeik District at 5:30 a.m. on 7 September.

The attack happened in Myeik district’s Pae Tai Village where many members of the Pyu Saw Htee, a military-aligned militia, are stationed. The attack was to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the NUG’s declaration of the armed revolution, according to a member of one of the defence forces involved in the attack.

“There was an exchange of fire in the village that lasted almost two hours. One PDF fighter was slightly injured, but they retreated safely”, said a member of one of the defence forces involved in the attack.

Pyu Saw Htee leaders U Ohn Ni and U Mya Win were reportedly killed in the attack, according to Myeik District Battalion 2, one of the defence groups involved in the attack.

The attack was jointly carried out by Myeik District battalion 2 and the Tanintharyi People’s Defence Force.
