A film and fundraising event held at the University of Maryland’s Hoff Theatre in the US from 4 to 9 p.m. on 4 June raised over $20,000 USD.

The event was organised by the Chin community of nearby Washington D.C. and Inle Film Productions to raise funds for internally displaced people (IDPs) in Chin State.

'All the money received from this fundraiser will be used for Internally Displaced People [IDPs]. This event is intended for displaced Chin people. Donations amounted to 38,400,000 kyat [about $20,700 USD] in Burmese currency”, said U Dong Khup, the fundraising organiser, to Mizzima.

In the first part of the fundraising event, the Hollywood director Dylan Chow presented a music video titled “Ar Nar Yuu” (Power-Mad person) and a film titled “Achit Tu” (fake love). In the second part of the program, there was a fashion show of traditional Chin costumes and a traditional Chin bamboo dance.

There was also a performance by the Chin singers Vanlal Sailova, JJ, Mercy Fam and Suan lian and guest performances by the Kachin singers Ah Mon and the Kayah singer Darnai.
